It's been a minute...

Introducing the Omega Racing Karts Winged Outlaw Kart. Having already run 2 race meets in it, it was time to make it official with a wrap from Nat at Sign Wright. I think everyone will agree that she absolutely smashed it on the design.

Thanks to Sam Nucifora from Omega Racing Karts SEQ for making it all happen. Next stop will be Kurri Kurri NSW next weekend for a club day to get some laps before the NSW titles.

The old 'what could have been'...

We had some good heats and a dnf when Jamie had to avoid a spinning kart causing him to back it into the wall.

Putting us out of the rear for the final, first corner I jumped 3 positions but didn't last long when a seat bolt snapped making the kart undriveable. Theory is the wall hit may have fractured the bolt.

We had the speed to podium, but today wasn't our day.

Backing it up tomorrow with a private track hire to try a few more things with the kart.

Back at Maryborough Speedway Karts today for the Double Trouble meet. Teaming up with Jamie Partridge we both run 2 heats and a final in the same kart.. Looking forward to running some laps and getting the kart more dialled for the Aus titles next year.

Went for some laps yesterday at Maryborough Speedway Karts for the Jett Lemon Memorial Race.

For the first time I wasn't running from rear of field.

Heat 1 started from pole and finished 1st making it my first heat win.
Heat 2 and 3 started mid pack and finished the same.

For the final I started out of P2. From the start I jumped straight into first and even started to work my way through the Standard Medium field in front. Kart was flying for the first few laps and felt great. We made a tyre change before the final to suit a colder track which turned out to be the wrong one. As the race went on the right rear cooked itself (see last pic) and made the kart pretty loose which cost a lot of positions.

Certainly happy with the outcome of the day and learnt a lot on getting the kart setup.

Nothing much to report of late unfortunately.

6 weeks ago I had a second surgery on my hand in an attempt to get feeling back. The surgery had no effect and put me even further back than before..

Given racing quarterscale requires such a fine input into control I've decided to take a break from racing for now. I can't give it my all and simple things such as working on the cars is a struggle.

For the rest of this year I'll focus on running the speedway kart which is a lot more forgiving with only 1 decent hand. The 2024 Australian titles will be held in Queensland so focus is as many laps as I can before then.

Hopefully will have some more frequent updates now as I've been given the all clear to use my hand as normally as possible, albeit without feeling.

Made my debut in the speedway kart today at Maryborough Speedway Karts for their Anzac day cup.

Given it was my first event I started rear of field all day which was great as I could get a feel for the kart and gain some speed. We set the kart up very basic just to get round the track and spent the day mainly focusing on getting the tune somewhat close.

By heat 3 I was starting to find some speed and some confidence with my driving, even starting to mix in with other karts on the track.

In the final, I was again off the rear and was starting to feel a lot more comfortable. As luck would have it, I managed to work my way up to third after a few loose moments.

A massive thankyou to Sam Joseph Nucifora from Omega Racing Karts SEQ. Without him it just simply wouldn't have happened today. And to all the other Omega lads, a massive thankyou also.

The goal today was only ever to run some laps, get a feel and have some fun so outcome was great.

Almost ready to hit the track. All going well, first meet next weekend at Maryborough.

Thanks to Nat at Sign Wright for doing a killer job on the wrap. If I'm not fast, I'll look good going slow 😁

Well, I think it's time we drop the RC from Watt RC motorsport...

After a long time out of an actual drivers seat, it's time I got back in one. Recently I picked up an Omega Racing Karts offset speedway kart. Karting has always been on the list for me, so why not combine it with speedway. Have gained my Speedway Australia licence already so next stop is to get it wrapped and hit the track real soon.

I'll still be running quarterscale, but only selected events and at our club track Pit Pass Quarter Scale Speedway Club inc. With still no feeling in my right hand, it's been difficult to steer an RC car and have come to the realisation that it could be for life.

Well the Late Model was going OK....Wasn't my hand that caused it at least 😂

I've been a bit quiet of late. After having surgery on my hand recently, somehow I was left with no feeling in my right hand so at this stage no racing on the cards for the foreseeable future. It's left me unable to work on any cars until I adapt to my situation and a remote in my hand is not a good feeling at all.

I have been however playing around with a new 3d printer and producing some of my own parts. Exciting to see something start from nothing to a finish product.

Here's hoping I can run some laps soon.

First time at Queensland Quarter Scale Speedway Club Inc. this year for some laps.

Dirt mod was chasing a mechanical issue in the heats which meant starting from the rear in the main. Managed to drive from the rear twice (had a roll over) and take the A main win.

Late Model in only it's second full event and first since the Queensland titles took 3 heat wins and A main win.

Keen to get the Late Model sorted some more, definitely a fun car to drive.
