Gilmour Racing finishing P1 & P2 for the Errol Gilmour Memorial Cup. A spectacular race with a bit of everything including some very impressive wheel to wheel racing. Chris taking the top step for back to back victories with Kyle Evans applying constant pressure and delivering some incredible passing for the lead.
A massive thank you to the whole Australian Formula Open family for a sensational weekend of Motorsport! Car diversity, grid numbers and mega racing was the order for the full weekend. A truly inclusive open wheel category where everyone has a place to enjoy some very cool and very fast cars.
Let's take a moment to remember this is a team sport and without the Gilmour Racing Team as a whole, nothing like this would be possible. Gilmour Racing is proud of its team members, all with very important and critical roles to ensure the craziness of Motorsport goes as smoothly as possible.
Donna Gilmour, operations manager for the team is responsible for just about everything including logistics, parts and stock inventory, transporting race cars, travel, catering and the list goes on.
Matthew Gilmour, team manager. Does all the work nobody else can do. Repairing and preparing all the race cars. From small repairs to full blown restorations. Matt puts in so many hours to get these cars to the track race ready and makes sure we always have reliable cars every weekend (except for the Formula Ford 😂)
Marcello Surace, data engineer is responsible for the critical systems on the Gilmour Racing cars. Not only that but Marcello also tackles driver coaching to help exploit any possible lap time left on the circuit.
Gazza JS (Gary Sturdy), race engineer sees Gary managing the mechanics of the car and making critical calls like fuel loads and aero and suspension adjustments.
Kodie Oconnor, Race Mechanic put him in the trenches. Doing the impossible in a unrealistic time is exactly what's expected and he doesn't let the team down.
All of these incredible humans are there to make the driver's life easier, allowing them to focus completely on their role and together this makes a great team. They don't always get in the celebration photos but they the reason our drivers were this weekend.
