My Favourite Family Plug-in Hybrid: BYD SEALION 6
After spending some time with the BYD SEALION 6, I honestly think it’s a great option for families.
One thing I really like is the seating position and overall height of the car. It’s easy to get in and out of, without feeling like you have to climb into a very high SUV. Once you’re seated, your legs can sit naturally, which makes a big difference on longer drives.
The rear seats are also very spacious. There is plenty of legroom for adults, and it works well for families with children or child seats. The boot is practical too — it can fit a large Vista pram or a children’s bike without much trouble.
The sunroof is another nice feature. You can either open it fully or just open the glass section for more light and fresh air. On a nice day, it makes the whole cabin feel much brighter and less enclosed.
And I have to mention the big screen. When you’re out with kids, sometimes they’re tired, restless, or you just need a few minutes to organise things. Putting on Peppa Pig can be a real lifesaver! 😄
For daily commuting, using electric power is usually enough. For weekend trips to Mornington or Yarra Valley, you can switch to petrol when needed, so there’s no range anxiety. You can also schedule charging times to make use of cheaper off-peak electricity rates.
It also comes with useful features like a head-up display, which makes it easier to check your speed and navigation without taking your eyes off the road.
If you’re looking for a family car with good space, practical features, lower daily running costs, and the flexibility for weekend trips, the BYD SEALION 6 is definitely worth a test drive.
