šŸ‘‹ Meet Ben – the newest addition to the Viking Hotrods team!

We’re excited to welcome Ben to our paint department!

Ben has been spray painting since he was just 16 years old. Growing up in a family that lived and breathed cars, it was only natural that he found his way into the trade.

His passion lies in custom paintwork, where no two jobs are ever the same. One of the biggest and most memorable projects he’s worked on was a Peterbilt 379 truck—a huge undertaking involving countless hours of cutting and polishing, finished in a stunning three-layer pearl paint system. It looked incredible… although we’re not entirely sure we’d be able to squeeze something that size into our booth! šŸ˜‚

And when the workday finishes… Ben doesn’t stop painting! You’ll usually find him in the shed working on his own projects, including his XY Falcon.

If he could paint any vehicle, it would be a classic ’32 or ’34 Hot Rod—so we think he’s’s going to fit in just fine around here. šŸ˜Ž

When asked why he chose Viking, his answer was simple:
ā€œIt looked like a great workshop that was on its way up, and I wanted to be part of it.ā€

šŸ“ø Pictured here with our Master Painter, Steve, this is the Viking paint team… and what a pair! We can’t wait to see what these two create together.

Please join us in giving Ben a warm Viking welcome! šŸ‘šŸ”„

šŸŽ‰ Happy Birthday, Josh! šŸŽ‰

Today we’re celebrating one of the true cornerstones of Viking Hotrods.

Our Operations Assistant Josh has been with Viking longer than anyone else on the team, dating back to when Greg was working out of a small shed all those years ago. His loyalty, dedication and work ethic have helped shape the business into what it is today.

Whether he’s making parts runs, keeping the workshop looking its best, lending a hand wherever it’s needed, or taking care of the countless little jobs that keep our tradespeople focused on what they do best, Josh is always there with a smile and a willingness to help.

And of course, no one makes a better coffee or fires up a better BBQ! ā˜•šŸ”„

Thanks for everything you do, Josh. We hope you have a fantastic birthday and an even better year ahead. Happy Birthday from all of us at Viking Hotrods! šŸŽ‚šŸŽˆ

Every older vehicle has a history.

Some have been beautifully maintained. Others have had decades of repairs, modifications and ā€œquick fixesā€. The question is… do you really know what condition your vehicle is in?

At Viking Hotrods, our Comprehensive Vehicle Condition Report is designed to answer that question.

Using the combined expertise of our mechanics, panel beaters and painters, we carry out a thorough front-to-back assessment of your vehicle. You’ll receive a detailed written report, supported by photographs, identifying your vehicle’s overall condition, safety-critical items, previous repairs, maintenance priorities and recommended next steps.

Whether you plan to maintain your vehicle yourself or simply want the confidence of knowing exactly where it stands, our Comprehensive Vehicle Condition Report gives you the information to make informed decisions and protect your investment. šŸ’Ŗ

Some projects deserve something you simply can’t buy off the shelf šŸ’Ŗ

On this Ford Bronco, the owner gave us a simple brief: ā€œCome up with something original.ā€

Greg is currently hand-fabricating a completely custom grille from scratch. Rather than reinventing the Bronco, the goal was to capture the spirit of the original. We chose to work with the iconic round headlights and a narrower grille aperture, creating what we’re calling the Modified Bullnose.

As the Broncos evolved through the 1980s, the front end became their defining feature. The side profile changed very little, so if you’re going to give one a new identity, it starts with the face.

If you know, you know.šŸ˜Ž

Stay tuned to see the finished grille come to life. We think it’s going to be something special.

Not every transformation starts with paint.

This stunning white Corvette is in for Stage 1 of its makeover, and we’re focusing on what really matters—how it drives.

The plan?
šŸ”§ Blueprint crate Small Block Chev
āš™ļø T-56 six-speed manual conversion
šŸ›ž Suspension upgrade
šŸ›‘ Modern brake package

The installation is being completed by Shania alongside our senior mechanic Nathan, combining fresh enthusiasm with years of experience to give this Corvette the upgrade it deserves.

A Blueprint crate engine delivers the reliability and performance of a brand-new powerplant while keeping that unmistakable small block Chevy character. Pair it with a T-56 six-speed and you get closer ratios, effortless highway cruising, better fuel economy and a far more engaging driving experience.

The suspension and brake upgrades will completely transform the way this Corvette feels on the road too—sharper handling, greater confidence, improved stopping power and a car that’s every bit as enjoyable to drive as it is to look at.

And if you’ve watched the video, you’ll notice a very special cameo from Shania! šŸ‘

Getting in front of the camera isn’t easy, and it takes a lot of courage. We know it can be nerve-racking, but Shania did an awesome job. In fact, she was so nervous she even had a complete blank on what the old engine was called! šŸ˜„

Please give her some encouragement in the comments. She’s a valued member of the Viking team, and we’re sure you’ll be seeing a lot more of her as her career continues to grow with us.

It’s always nice to welcome back familiar faces.

This tidy ā€˜54 Chev was back in the workshop this week for its regular service and pink slip. We originally worked on the car some time ago, so it’s great to see the owner continuing to look after it.

Classic cars aren’t maintained the same way as modern vehicles. They have their own quirks, and many of the systems and technologies used in older cars simply aren’t covered in modern automotive training. That’s why experience with these vehicles really matters.

Regular servicing helps identify small issues before they become bigger ones, keeping these classics reliable and ready to enjoy for years to come.

If you’ve got a pre-1990 classic, muscle car or hot rod that deserves experienced hands, we’d love to hear about it.

Rain or shine, the cars still show up. This morning’s Shoalhaven Cars & Coffee in Nowra may have been a wet one, but that didn’t stop a solid turnout of machines, coffee, and good company. ā˜•šŸš—

That’s what we love about the scene—when people are passionate about their cars, a bit of weather isn’t enough to keep them at home. The car park was still packed with enthusiasts keen to catch up, check out the lineup, and enjoy the morning.

It was great to see Adam’s F100 standing proud amongst the crowd. Tough trucks never go unnoticed, and this one was drawing plenty of attention. We also spotted Jonathan’s HZ Ute looking right at home amongst a seriously impressive mix of classics, customs, and cruisers.

From the Charger Sportsman and the classy Ford Landau to Bob’s Pontiac Parisienne and plenty more besides, there was no shortage of automotive treasure on display. Every row had something worth stopping for.

Did you brave the weather and make the journey this morning? We’d love to see your photos from the gathering—drop them in the comments below. šŸ‘‡

šŸš—šŸ’Ø Friday Whip Around at Viking HQ!

It’s been another busy week in the workshop with progress happening across a huge range of projects. There are plenty of moving parts, lots of problem-solving, and no shortage of passion being poured into every vehicle that rolls through the doors.

This week we also hit pause on the tools for a short time to complete our annual fire training. While we’re all about building cool cars, nothing is more important than making sure our team goes home safely at the end of every day. Safety is a big part of the culture at Viking and we’re committed to keeping it that way. šŸ”„šŸ§Æ

Now for the important question…

šŸ‘€ Can you spot your vehicle in this week’s photos?

Let us know in the comments when you find it!

A big thank you to our customers for trusting us with their pride and joy, and to our incredible team for the effort they put in every single day.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone. We’ll be back in the workshop on Monday doing what we love.
