A brand new Amarok, with a little extra functionality added.

This one came in to have the central locking on its aftermarket canopy integrated into the vehicle’s existing locking system.

The job was all about making it work like it belonged there from factory.

Weatherproof connectors where required, wiring routed neatly and securely, and everything kept hidden and protected.

The result is simple — lock the Amarok, and the canopy locks with it.

It’s the little details in an accessory installation that make the difference.

A little behind the scenes at Taylor Automotive & 4WD. 👨‍🔧

We shut the toolboxes for a bit and turned the workshop into a classroom for some automotive air conditioning training.

A big thank you to Brett from SuperCool for spending the day with us. An industry expert on all things A/C, and an all-round great bloke and trainer who was more than happy to share his knowledge and experience with the team.

It’s easy to talk about investing in new tools and equipment, but investing time into our team’s knowledge is every bit as important.

And a special shout-out to our crew who gave up a day off to come in and take part. We genuinely appreciate the effort and commitment.

Better understanding leads to better testing, better diagnosis and better repairs.

Bonus discovery: our pristine white workshop walls make a surprisingly good projector screen. 😂

Rear end noise? This one had a bit more going on underneath.

This 70 Series LandCruiser was towed into us with a significant noise coming from the rear.

Our diagnosis pointed towards an internal differential problem. Once dismantled, the damage became pretty clear — the pinion gear had stripped multiple teeth from the gearset.

Further inspection also uncovered another major issue. The axle housing itself was bent and cracked, resulting in an external oil leak.

A replacement axle housing was sourced, the differential centre was fully reconditioned and everything was correctly assembled and refitted.

A good example of why an unusual noise shouldn’t be ignored. Sometimes what starts as a noise can reveal a much bigger problem once properly inspected.

Towing with a 200 Series? This is one upgrade worth knowing about. 🔧

We recently fitted an MM4X4 Vehicle Electronics Torque Converter Lock-Up Kit to this Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series.

A lock-up kit gives the driver greater control over when the torque converter locks, creating a more direct connection through the automatic transmission when conditions suit.

For towing and touring, the benefits can include:

🔧 Reduced transmission heat by limiting unnecessary converter slip
🔧 Improved engine braking on descents
🔧 More direct drive feel when locked
🔧 Better control when towing heavy caravans or trailers
🔧 Less load on the transmission in suitable driving conditions

A little something different for the weekend. 🚗💨

Trav and his son are heading off this weekend for the 2026 Lunchbox Rally, raising funds for the Cancer Council along the way.

They’ll be dusting off our trusty old Ford Falcon once again — a car that’s already survived a few Sh*tbox and Lunchbox Rally adventures!

This time the journey takes them:

Dubbo → Lightning Ridge → Eulo → Louth → Dubbo

A few days, plenty of kilometres, plenty of dirt and no doubt a few stories by the time they make it home.

It’s a great opportunity for father and son to have an adventure together while supporting a cause that affects so many Australian families.

While Trav is away, it’s business as usual at Taylor Automotive & 4WD. The workshop will remain open and our team will be here to look after anything you need while he’s gone.
