When a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) becomes blocked, it creates extreme exhaust backpressure. This restriction quickly leads to a domino effect of mechanical problems, starting with a severe loss of engine power and triggering "limp home mode" to protect the engine from damage.
If a DPF Regeneration isn't triggered by driving at a steady highway speed (typically above 60-80 km/h) at around 2,000 to 2,500 RPM for about 20–30 minutes allowing the exhaust to get hot enough to naturally burn off the accumulated soot, then you will need the DPF dismantled from your vehicle for a professional clean.
