Blacktown roads aren't easy on your car β€” and your wheel alignment takes the hit more than most drivers realise.

Potholes, speed bumps, heavy traffic. It adds up gradually, and by the time you notice something's off, your tyres are often already wearing unevenly. In winter, when roads are wet and foggy mornings are the norm, that matters more than ever. Misalignment affects how your car handles on slick surfaces β€” and most drivers don't feel it until it becomes a real problem.

Here's what to watch for:

β€’ Your car pulls to one side when you're driving straight
β€’ Your steering wheel sits slightly off-centre
β€’ One edge of your tyres is wearing faster than the other

None of these are dramatic warning signs on their own β€” but together, they're telling you something. A wheel alignment is one of the quickest services we do, and it's one of the most effective ways to extend the life of your tyres and keep your car handling properly through winter.

We've put together a full guide on how misalignment affects your tyres on Blacktown roads β€” worth a read if you're not sure what to look for: https://goodyearblacktown.com.au/news/4836-how-bad-alignment-destroys-your-tyres-faster-blacktown-roads-2026-guide

Mid-winter is when your car works hardest, and it's when most people find out something needed attention three months ago.

Cold starts, wet roads, foggy mornings β€” July puts real pressure on engines, batteries, brakes, and tyres. The good news is a winter service catches those things before they become a problem on the road.

Our team at Goodyear Autocare Blacktown is currently working through a solid run of services, and that's exactly what this time of year calls for. Whether you're a daily commuter, running a family car, or managing a fleet and thinking about where maintenance sits in your new financial year budget β€” we're here and we know what we're doing.

If your car is due for a service, now's a good time to get it sorted.

Can a punctured tyre always be repaired? Not always, and it's worth knowing the difference before you assume you're good to go.

As a general rule, a tyre can only be safely repaired if the puncture is in the central tread area and smaller than 6mm in diameter. If the damage is on the sidewall or shoulder of the tyre, it needs to be replaced, full stop. No patch or plug will make that safe.

With school holidays underway and plenty of Western Sydney families heading out on road trips, it's worth getting any suspect tyre checked before you load up the car. A puncture that seems minor in the driveway can become a serious problem at highway speed on a wet winter road.

Not sure about yours? Bring it in. We'll take a look and give you an honest assessment, no upsell, just a straight answer on whether it can be fixed or needs replacing.

That clunking noise over bumps? Your suspension might be telling you something.

Winter is actually one of the harder seasons on your car's suspension. Cold temperatures stiffen the rubber bushings and seals that keep everything moving smoothly, and wet roads put extra load through your steering and suspension components.

Here are three signs worth paying attention to right now:

β€” Your ride feels rougher than it used to
β€” You're hearing clunks or knocks when you go over bumps
β€” The car drifts or wanders on the highway

None of these are things to leave until they get worse. Suspension wear affects how your car handles in an emergency stop or on a wet road, and that matters a lot more in winter.

We've written a full guide on what to look for and what to do next. Worth a read before your next long drive.

School holidays are almost here, and if you're loading up the SUV for a winter road trip, there are three things worth checking before you leave the driveway.

First, tyre pressure. Cold winter mornings can drop tyre pressure by roughly 1 PSI for every 10Β°C drop in temperature. Check your pressures before you load the car, not after. A full SUV with soft tyres is not a great combination on a long run.

Second, brakes. Extra passengers, luggage, and a roof rack all add weight. More weight means your brakes need to work harder to stop the car. If you've noticed anything off lately, now is the time to get it looked at, not halfway up the highway.

Third, wiper blades. June rain in Western Sydney is no joke, and worn blades that smear instead of clear are a real visibility problem. Takes two minutes to check.

None of this is complicated. It's just the kind of thing that's easy to skip when you're in holiday mode and the kids are already in the car.

If you want us to run through it all before you head off, we're at 116 Bungarribee Road, Blacktown. Book online or give us a call.
