This morning some of our members attended the Goornong Recreation Reserve and Swimming pool annual car boot sale and Market.
We had a fantastic time there. Our good friends from the Central Victorian Restoration group also were there with a collection of tractors and trucks.

The Waukesha engine is on the move

Our Waukesha engine has left the engine shed.

It's the first time in over 25 years that it's been out enjoying the sunshine, it could be longer.

This engine starts on petrol then it gently switches to diesel.

The radiator is 1.9 meters tall and is very heavy.

One of our members has taken it home, where it will get critical components added back on before a test run.
It will then get a clean, receive an undercoat and a new coat of green paint.
We found the original colour hiding.

We all can't wait to see this unique engine running!

Fun fact:
Can you guess how many thermostats it has?
Answer:
It has three, two for the engine and one for the exhaust manifold system.

This is one of our largest exhibits. Weighing over 20 tonnes.

1938 Ruston veh 6 cylinder crude oil engine with a 264kva alternator and exciter.

Imported from Ruston Hornsby in England to Melbourne in 1938. This was one of three that powered Horsham.
It then was used in a sawmill in Dargo, before being used at Cohn's soft drinks as a back up power supply with the SEC strikes. Cohn's was bought by coca cola and the engine set up was donated to the group.

There are roughly 28 cubic metres of concrete foundations under this engine.

We just need to do some tweaking and this engine will be running again.

Here's a picture of it after a spring clean.
