I’m Dion Jelbart, the owner of LEAP Driving Excellence, based in Bendigo.
With more than 30 years of driving experience and having conducted over 3,000 drive tests as a Licence Testing Officer with VicRoads, I’ve gained extensive knowledge and experience in road safety, driver behaviour and the skills required to become a safe, confident road user.
I’m proud to now use that experience to help learner drivers develop safe driving practices, build their knowledge and confidence, and establish good habits that will hopefully flow through to the next generation of drivers and help make our roads safer for everyone.
I’m a family man with two boys, and outside of driving instruction I enjoy photography, cycling, sport, gardening and beach holidays.
Like many drivers, I wasn’t always the cautious road user I am today. As a young driver, I was over-confident and thought I was invincible. As you mature, gain experience and see more of what can happen on our roads, you come to realise that none of us are invincible.
That change in perspective is something I bring to my teaching.
My goal is to share my knowledge, past experience and professional skills to help you become a safer, more aware and responsible driver — protecting you, your loved ones and your community.
Safe driving!
