The road toll points to behavioural problems that are not being addressed. Rural roads need tailored solutions from experts in improving behaviour. I am certain this approach would make a difference.

As of February 2, Victorian road deaths are up 71.4 percent compared to the corresponding period last year. That's 24 fatalities compared to 14, with an 88 percent increase in deaths on rural roads. Authorities will be hoping the figures improve as 2022 progresses to add credence to their road safety policies. As that helpful?

It's a very cynical act of governments that when the Australian road toll goes up, recognition goes quiet. The national figure is well above last year's. Time to talk about possible solutions that aren't palletible within the systems approach.
