Tassievwpickers was formed by William Holmes and Elliott Leedham back in 2015. They are the two best mates from high school with a passion for Volkswagens! The passion turned into a hobby that morphed into a business which went from strength to strength. In early 2023 it became a fulltime operation dedicated to saving anything Air-Cooled Tassie Wide! Tassievwpickers is the local Tasmanian home for

thousands of used Volkswagen parts. Tassievwpickers HQ is based in Bellingham Tasmania in NE Tasmania. We are open to the public by appointment. William is always on the hunt for anything interesting to re-home. The list of vehicles purchased to date include anything from a Renault 20TS, to a Series 1 Landrover SWB, to a VK Valiant Sedan, 80 Series Landcruiser, Nissan X-Trail, Renault Koleos, dozens and dozens of Volkswagens... even a Hyundai Tiburon! Are you or do you know the owner of the Karmann Ghia?

If you do and can prove it I have a present for you. The original books and rego certificate from when it was new.

The car was sold to Victoria in around 06/08 and hopefully is back on the road again!

How cool is the patina and stance? Running a 2 Litre engine, all freshly upholstered seats from front to back. Runs, drives and stops!

Will need some restoration and bodywork in the lower sections, but overall an excellent base to finish building from.

Located 15 minutes from Devonport and the Spirit of Tasmanian Terminal.

Regrettably up for sale, but with a newborn at home and more important priories at play, I am listing the 67 Panel for sale.

Lots of quirks, bumps and bruises with some rust in the hang on panels. Running and driving with full Tasmanian registration. 1500 engine runs well, still 6v with dual batteries. All new brakes, slaves, master and flex lines. This was my first big resto with a lot of metal being put into it.

Tassie delivered van from new. Still have the books, early Tasmanian plates. Last registered in 1985 before being resurrected 18 months ago.

Comes with a spare pair of white cargo doors with minimal rust.

For someone wanting to jump in and drive everyday, you probably nearly could. It would just be cold and a bit damp but it’s a price point registered Splitty you can drive home.

Price: $35,000.

Today’s recovery is this 1971 Volkswagen Kombi Microbus, a Tassie bus delivered from Kevin Jack Motors in Launceston on the 26/10/1971 to a Leonard Rowlings in Youngtown.

The previous owner Rick had a strong connection to VW’s with his father being involved with the VW participation in the REDEX and BP Rally’s back in the 50’s and 60’s. He had bought the bus in what we thought was the late 80’s, used it as a camper van with his family with a makeshift rock and roll bed until it was last registered in November 1995 after being parked up with an unknown mechanical problem.

The plan was always to get the bus back on the road but one thing led to another and 31 years later it was still sitting, hiding down a driveway in Southern Tas.

William got onto it through a post on a local Tassie VW page from a good friend of the scene, Adrian Palmer. A couple of calls and 3.5 hour drive south and a deal was done.

The recovery was the hard bit with the bus half sunken into the earth and loaded to the brim with 31 years of paperwork, household goods, magazines and camping supplies, not to mention the couple of inches between the house and the shed to extract the bus!

Now 250km later and back up the north of the state, this 71 Bus will enjoy some much deserved time undercover until the next plan is hatched. Maybe another project for a rainy day, or maybe onto her forever home. Regardless the future has never looked brighter for the little Lowlight.

She’s back on the road!

A quick mechanical freshen up, a couple of new lenses and some minor tinkering, and the 61 Beetle has hit the road again for the first time since 2008.

William may be biased, but how good is this colour/trim combination. Surely the best there was in 1961!

Surely this bus is worth saving?

Now we all know the time and money that is invested in restoring a VW Kombi nowadays, but someone would surely be interested in this as a winter (or two winters) project.

Mostly complete, no engine and I’ll ever make sure the rear is cleaned out.

1970 Wide 5 Lowlight Kombi. Originally saved from Liffey back in 2012 by yours truly. Several owners later she has arrived back at Bellingham and now finally she needs to find her forever home.

$1200. Located Bellingham. 40 minutes north east of Launceston.

Photos form most of the description! Has a super solid top and A pillars but has the lower demons as they all do.
