Part 2 of our road trip in the Red Sky Adventurer.

After our stay at Baandee Lake, we kept rolling east and the trip just kept getting better. 🚐✨

We made overnight stops at Woorlba, Nullarbor Roadhouse, and Kimba — each one offering its own kind of outback magic. Long roads, big skies, and plenty of laughs along the way. Be sure to stop at the BP in Norseman as they kindly supply a complete list of fuel stops with distances across the Nullabor. Careful planning a jerry can with spare fuel helps navigate around some of the more expensive options.

Woorlba has heaps of room set back from the road, with toilets and a dump point. It can get a bit dusty if the wind is up, but nothing too bad if you position the vans well - also a great spot to get a campfire going. There’s not much firewood around though, so bring some with you if you’re planning on having a fire.

At the Nullarbor Roadhouse, we grabbed a powered site — easy after a long day — and enjoyed a couple of cold drinks at the bar. The meals looked great, but we already had dinner sorted back at camp. We even had a few dingoes wander through the area, including one strolling right through the campground.

In Kimba, we stayed at the local rec centre/oval, which has toilets and is only a short walk to the pub. We wandered over for dinner and ended up meeting a lovely couple travelling to Kalgoorlie for the Red Dust Devil Revival (pre-war vintage vehicles). They kindly offered us their table as they were heading off, and after discovering we were bound for the Bathurst 1000, we soon found ourselves hearing stories from his days in motorsport — including that he was one of the inaugural V8 SupeUte drivers.

One of the absolute highlights was visiting Head of the Bight. We were lucky enough to spot 7 whales, all with calves, cruising just off the cliffs. An unforgettable sight and one of those moments you can’t quite capture in words. 🐋💙

We'll end this part in Stansbury, where we'll pick up in a few days time with our adventures of the Yorke Penninsula.

We recently hit the road for the best part of 5 weeks in our Red Sky Adventurer. Our adventure took us to Yorke Peninsula, Barossa Valley, Great Ocean Road, Bathurst 1000 and the Eyre Peninsula.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing some stories — the campsites we love, the little challenges along the way, and how the van performs off the beaten track.

Follow along as we test the comforts, towing, and features first-hand — the best way to show what these caravans are truly made for.

First stop was Baandee Lake - about 225km east of Perth. We took off on a Sunday afternoon after the kids finished their sporting finals to "get out of town" and get our adventure started.
