Today , after 2 1/2 months of waiting, was supposed to be the day my new hoist was finally installed. Guys from Melbourne tasked to do the install, turned up right on time at 8am. They walked into the new workshop and looked around then spied the roof height. "I don't think you've got enough clearance in here to put this hoist up-it's a very tall unit. 10 minutes and lots of measuring and head scratching later, he determined that no, it won't fit! I ring hoist supplier (who supposedly did all the measuring beforehand and once he'd spoken to the installer, admitted to me that he'd stuffed up and missed that little detail! Luckily for the supplier, the installers have other work to do up here so no big deal. Result is I'm now getting a better hoist which they've double checked will fit in the area, is faster and a bit cheaper. Plus, as it's their mistake, I'm now not paying for the installation (saving me $2500!) but and it's a major but, I have to wait maybe another month to get the right one installed as these guys are very busy and no one else is willing to travel up here. There is a local firm who do them but they charge nearly 2 1/2 times the price! GRRRR!
