Looking forward to seeing everybody for Neville’s big night!
The Neville Lance Twin 14’s event .
For Big Rev Nev!
It may have only been last weekend that the season began, but the Speedcars will be back on track again this Saturday night as they race for honours in the fifth annual Neville Lance Twin 14’s event!
A solid field of sixteen cars has nominated: an almost identical starters list to Powerpalooza, and with Tom Payet (Bennett Motorsport) the only one of them to have previously grabbed the honours in this race, there are plenty who will be fighting to win the race in honour of a man who is a hero to many of them!
The races this weekend honour the contributions of one of WA’s most popular drivers, Neville Lance who is a life member of WASDA and has built up an incredible racing resume over many years.
Keenan Fleming (Fleming Motorsport) had a solid opening night, claiming a heat win en route to claiming the season opening feature after starting in position four. The win was his fifth at the Motorplex venue and his first since March 2019, so he will certainly be hoping to lessen the time between drinks this time around!
Cody Nash (Nash Racing) charged through the field to finish second, having started from position fourteen on the grid due to some tough luck in the heats. He will be looking to get some early runs on the board in time trials and the heat race this weekend to set himself up with the best possible starting positions for both of the Twin 14 features.
Patrick Watson (Watson Racing Team) had one of the best nights of his short career last week, qualifying on the front row after two second place finishes in his heats, before racing to a fine third overall in the feature. He will be looking to build on those runs this time out and could well be atop the podium in one or both of Saturday night’s features.
Jake Robinson (Robinson Motorsport) is another who had a good opening night, two third-place heat finishes setting up a third place start in the feature event before ultimately coming home fourth. The new LynK Chassis/GRD Motor combination has already shown it works well and who knows what more it is capable of!
Beau Doyle (Beau Doyle Motorsport) rounded out the top five finishers in the opening night meeting, two fourths in the heats enough to keep him right in the game come feature time. Doyle is one who only improves with the more laps he does, and he could well be one to watch this weekend.
Dan Golding (DGR - Dan Golding Racing) bounced back in a big way, coming from eleventh to finish sixth in the season opener, while brother Rob (Golding Motorsport) finished just behind him in seventh after claiming the opening heat race of the season. They were followed across the line by Cory Smith, this weekend hoping to pay tribute to his mentor and sponsor Lance, and rookies Chris Dymock (Dymock Motorsport) and William Douglas (Douglas Motorsport) who rounded out the top ten finishers.
Names like Andrew Charles, Isiah Matich and Joel Watson will also be hoping for more luck this time out.
Tyson Bryden (Tyson Bryden Motorsports) and Nicholas Rowe are the only two additions to the field this weekend, replacing Michael Pickens and Gary Mann who were in the opening night field but not nominated for this weekend. Bryden hasn’t hit the track since March earlier this year, while Australia #5 Rowe was nominated for the first show but was unable to make it.
Drivers will contest hot lap qualifying and one heat race each to set the grid for the first feature race, where a marble draw will be done to determine whether it will be a front or reverse grid, potentially resulting in a throwback to Neville’s days where the fastest came from the back! The second feature will see the grid set by combined points of all the races contested that night, meaning drivers have two races at feature race glory in the one night!
You will not want to miss this one!
