The big bad Buick is finally done and dusted!! We filled with the best break in oil on the market mounted it to the test stand, fitted an AVS2 carb and a dizzy and then fired it up. We carried out the usual cam break in procedures, then swapped out the light break in springs and fitted the matched to the big solid roller cam, re-tensioned the STG 2 S.E cylinder heads, re-adjusted the valve lash on the roller rockers and fitted and wired up the Sniper 2 kit. We then ran it for a bit, allowed it to get to temperature and made sure the EFI is doing everything it should do. The video pays it no justice, this thing is angry!! Very pleased with the outcome so far. Apologies for the terrible video!!

Well, that’s a wrap for 2025! I’d like to thank all of my clients and followers for all of the super strong positive support for another year, I absolutely truly appreciate it. I wish you all a VERY merry Christmas and a VERY happy and safe entry into 2026. Given the health issues I’ve overcome this year, I’m not only looking forward to the break, I’m looking forward to coming back and hitting the ground running at full pace! On an even more positive note, for the first time in almost 2 years, I’m in a position to take on new jobs. So if I have had to turn you away in the last 18 months to 2 years and you haven’t been able to find somebody else, please feel free touch base. Another super exciting announcement, a new boring machine and honing machine will be arriving early next year….woooohoooo!! I will be back on deck on the 27th of January and eagerly look forward to it. Take care everyone and stay safe. Merry Christmas to you all.

Here are some shots showing some of the work required to make a new set of main caps for D8 Delage from the 1920’s. We are also making new main and head studs and new upper bearing backings. We are also converting from white metal bearings to shell bearing. Ford barra bearings are going into the mains and Honda H22 bearings are going into the rods, all ACL Race Series bearings. A big job, but very rewarding stuff. Vintage engines is a real passion of mine, I just love the challenges they pose. Happy Friday folks.

We are so close to finishing off the foundation shaking, stroker Ford big block FE. This super rare intake manifold caused me some grief! At some stage in its life, it had seen a few weld repairs that weren’t carried out correctly subsequently leaving the manifold with a twist of over .100” and a bend of over .060”, also leaving me with actual datum to work off. But we got it sorted in the end and a very cool piece of automotive art gets to live another day. I can’t wait to fire this one up, another happy days.

Here is the bottom end of a mild 364ci Buick Nailhead. Stock rods with rod bolts. Stock crank balanced and blueprinted. Custom hydraulic flat tappet camshaft. Final assembled with most of my little tricks to make it a real nice thing. No horsepower monster, but it will be a real Tyre shredder in the little hot rod it’s going in.

The covers have been pulled of this straight 8 Delage D8S. A French car from the 1930’s. This engine came to me multiple boxes, mixed up with other parts from different make vehicles, so it’s taken some time just to get this organized!! The steel has been ordered for the new billet main caps. The new billet rods have been ordered and custom forged pistons are being made as we speak. Cracks in the original block are getting cold stitched in house, we are well on the way This is going to be a massive effort to get this engine up and going again, but I’m super keen to sink my teeth into it.

A 364ci Buick Nailhead undergoing the balancing act. The rear plane isn’t too far out (won’t be entirely sure until the pressure plate arrives), but the front plane is a mile out. Not only is it a mile out, it’s heavy over the big end. So we are going to machine up piece of steel plate that will weigh around 60 grams and bolt it to the harmonic balancer, effectively extending the counter weight on the factory harmonic balancer. If we get it right, it will balance the front plane, worst case scenario it will shift the out of balance to the counterweight on the crank allowing us to drill as per normal.

Front and rear main bearings have been re-metaled and machined on the Salmson GP. Sadly, I didn’t get enough photos of the processes taken, but hopefully you get the idea.
