Temporary Road Closure // Mount Panorama

The public is advised that the Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit will be closed to traffic on Sunday 25 October 2026 from 7.45am until 9.30am, to conduct the Mount Panorama Punish.

Resident access will be available during the closure. Residents are advised to refer to the notice provided to them.

Mount Panorama’s fifth event opportunity goes to market

Bathurst Regional Council has officially opened Expressions of Interest for a permanent fifth annual motor racing event at Mount Panorama from 2028.
Mount Panorama currently hosts four major events requiring full circuit closures each year: the Bathurst 1000, Bathurst 12 Hour, Bathurst 6 Hour and Challenge Bathurst.

Bathurst Mayor Cr Ben Fry said we are not simply looking for another race meeting. We want an event with its own identity, a strong commercial proposition, a credible promoter and the ability to bring new spectators, visitation and economic activity to Bathurst.

Expressions of Interest close at 10am Tuesday 1 December 2026 and are available through Bathurst Regional Council’s e-tendering portal.

Fuelled by about an hours sleep and plenty of celebrations Bathurst 1000 winning drivers Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood brought the Peter Brock trophy to the Bathurst C*D this morning.
Meeting fans and talking to the media the two-time winners were still taking in what unfolded on track yesterday.

There's still plenty of laps to go, but if you are leaving Bathurst after the race today - make sure you stick to the road rules and be patient. It's likely to be busy.
For those staying another day (or two) you can join us for Lap 162, the post event concert in the C*D tomorrow.

🏁 BATHURST 1000 EGRESS UPDATE 🚗🚙🏍️
As motorists leave Mt Panorama, heavy traffic is expected on roads around Bathurst.
✅ Check traffic updates before you leave
✅ Allow extra travel time
✅ Follow directions from Police and traffic controllers
✅ Consider alternate routes.
NSW Police and Transport for NSW will be working across key locations to help manage traffic and support motorists leaving the area.
Please drive to the conditions, take regular breaks on long trips, and be patient with other road users.
Plan ahead. Be patient. Drive safely and get home safely.
