Living in a semi-rural community like the Wollondilly, “No Choice of Repairer” policies simply don’t work the same way they do in metropolitan areas.
Many people don’t realise that some insurance policies direct you to repairers outside our area. While the policy may appear cheaper upfront, the inconvenience and hidden costs during a claim can quickly outweigh the savings.
With limited public transport in our region, multiple trips in and out of the Wollondilly to drop off, collect, assess, and manage repairs become a major burden. The insurer contributions toward taxis or Ubers rarely come close to covering the real cost or time involved.
We are also seeing extended wait times for quoting, assessments, and repairs when vehicles are sent out of the area. What might seem like a small saving on your premium can quickly turn into weeks of inconvenience, extra travel, lost time from work, and added stress for families already dealing with the disruption of an accident.
Most importantly keeping business local keeps our community strong.
Our local businesses support:
⚽ Sporting clubs
🏫 Schools
❤️ Community groups & NFPs
🤝 Local employment and families
Out-of-area businesses generally don’t reinvest back into the Wollondilly community the way local businesses do.
When reviewing your insurance policy, make sure you check whether you have the right to choose your own repairer. You may pay a little more for that option, but if you ever need to make a claim, the convenience, support, and ability to stay local can make all the difference.
Support local. Protect local. Choose local.
