Maintenance day for this Toyota Koba, which was ceramic coated by us.

A little reminder that ceramic coatings aren't a set-and-forget solution.

They still need regular maintenance to keep the coating performing as it should and those hydrophobic properties working their magic.

A well-maintained coating = one that lasts

It took everything in us not to reply “holy goat” as the damage was caused by some rather cheeky goats 🐐

3 things to avoid if you value your car's paint 🥲

Scratches and swirl marks aren't just an eyesore - they're imperfections in your clear coat, and ultimately, they're damage.

And unfortunately, we can't just polish everything away.

If your paint is already on the thinner side, how much we can safely remove depends on the vehicle, the paint thickness and the severity of the damage.

Sometimes we can remove a lot. Sometimes we need to leave some imperfections behind to avoid compromising the paint.

Cars are keeping us pretty busy at the moment, which is great. Unfortunately fuel costs are also keeping us pretty busy. So we're thinking about adding another service.
Shoe detailing.
If anyone would like their shoes professionally cleaned while their car is being detailed, please let us know.
We haven't detailed any shoes yet but surely it's basically the same thing.
Anyway, back to the cars.

Day 1 - Subaru pre-sale detail 🚘

Just a little disclaimer - this interior isn't finished yet!

Today we got stuck into removing and reinstalling the seats, tackling pet hair (A LOT of pet hair), muddy paws, food spills. All the fun stuff 🤭

We've got about 10% of the interior still to finish tomorrow morning before we move onto the exterior.

We're almost fully booked through to the end of September, with some spots already filling into October.

So grateful that this is our job 😍

The consequences of going with the cheap detail 😬

We stumbled across this post in a detailing enthusiasts group this morning and couldn't help but share it.

This is someone offering detailing services who apparently isn't sure what products they should be using on leather seats.

Major red flag 🚩

This is your reminder as the consumer to ask questions.

Don't be afraid to ask what products a detailer is using, why they're using them, and whether they're actually suitable for the surface they're working on.

Using the wrong products or chemicals can cause damage to your interior (and exterior for that matter) that can't always be undone.

At Shineline Detailing we aren't the cheapest. We can't deny that.

But what we are is knowledgeable. We have copious amounts of products and tools on hand because different surfaces, materials and situations call for different things.

We're not interested in just making your car look clean for five minutes. We want to do the job properly and look after your vehicle while we're doing it.

Some stains just don’t want to leave quietly 😂

The difference after a deep clean is HUGE.

We’ll be honest though - we were a little bummed we couldn’t get every last mark out. We set high standards for our work, so when we know there’s more we could improve, it bugs us!

Some cars simply need more time and another session - and these seats will be getting exactly that.

Detailing isn’t magic. It’s patience, process, and high standards.
