It is easy to call it laziness. The data tells a more complicated story. Studies show that Gen Z is obtaining driver's licenses at significantly lower rates than any previous generation. Several factors are converging at once. Ride sharing apps removed the urgency that once made driving a necessity. Rising car insurance costs, vehicle prices and urban living make car ownership feel financially out of reach for a generation already navigating student debt and an unstable job market.

Then there is the anxiety piece. Research found that Gen Z reports higher rates of driving anxiety than older generations, partly linked to higher overall stress levels and a greater awareness of road accident statistics.

Many are also simply staying home more, working remotely and living in cities with functional public transport.

This is not a generation that cannot grow up. It is a generation that inherited a different world and is navigating it differently.

Whether that is a problem or an adaptation depends entirely on who you ask.

Parking Signs In AUSTRALIA: What You Need To Know 🇦🇺🫣

Parking signs in Australia can be confusing at first, but once you know the basics, they’re easy!

1️⃣ Time Limits (1P, 2P, 4P, etc.)
• “P” = Parking allowed
• The number means how long you can stay
• 1P = 1 hour
• 2P = 2 hours
• 4P = 4 hours
• If no time is stated, it might mean unrestricted parking (but check for other signs nearby).

2️⃣ Days and Times Apply

If a sign shows specific days/times, rules only apply during that period
Example:
2P Mon–Fri 9am–5pm
→ You can park for 2 hours on weekdays between 9–5
→ Outside those times, it’s usually free/unrestricted

3️⃣ No Stopping vs No Parking

These two are not the same:

NO STOPPING
• Strictest rule
• You cannot stop your car at all — not even to drop someone.
• Marked by red circle with a slash.

NO PARKING
• You can stop briefly, usually 2 minutes, to pick up/drop off.
• Driver must stay within 3 metres of the vehicle.

4️⃣ Clearway
• Yellow sign
• Means no stopping during peak hours (e.g., 7–9am).
• Tow trucks operate in clearway zones — so don’t risk it.

5️⃣ Permit Zones
• Areas that require a resident or visitor permit.
• Sign will say: “Permit Zone – Permit Holders Only”
• Without a permit → you’ll get fined.

6️⃣ Loading Zones
• For commercial vehicles, taxis, ride-share or quick drop-offs/pickups.
• Time limits vary (5, 10, 15 min).
• Private cars can use them only if picking up/dropping off goods or passengers.

7️⃣ Disabled Parking
• Marked with the wheelchair symbol.
• Only for vehicles with a valid disability permit.
• Fines are very high if you misuse these bays.

8️⃣ Arrow Direction
Arrows tell you where the rule applies:
• ← left side of sign
• → right side of sign
• ↔ both ways

Always check the arrows — one sign can cover a whole stretch of road.

9️⃣ Pay Parking
• Sign will say “Ticket”, “Meter”, or “Pay & Display”.
• You must pay using:
• Parking meter
• Pay-by-phone app
• Ticket machine

🔟 Double Check for Multiple Signs

• A pole can have multiple signs — always read top to bottom
• The stricter rule usually applies during its stated period.

1️⃣1️⃣ Driveways/Ramps / Park on the right way

• Never block them or footpaths / You must park facing the same direction as moving traffic in the next lane.

Other parking rules vary from states and councils.
Know your signs = avoid fines 😅

Từ tháng 7 2023 công dân nước ngoài (ko phải là công dân Úc Citizen hoặc thường trú nhân PR) có 6 tháng để thi lái sát hạch để đổi sang bằng lái xe Úc.

Trong trường hợp thi trượt lần đầu tiên sẽ bị Service NSW cấp bằng L để lưu hành giao thông với điều kiện cần người có bằng Full unrestricted giám sát.

Vì số lượng người cần thi đổi bằng quá đông, thời hạn cuối cùng để thi sát hạch đc nới rộng từ tháng 3 2025 tới tháng 1 2026.

Thời gian chờ đặt lịch thi dao động từ 4-6 tuần tùy theo từng trung tâm Service NSW.

Hiện tại nhu cầu thi đổi và học lái rất lớn, mọi người nên liên hệ sớm đặt lịch thi và lịch tập/luyện thi lái sớm để các thầy có sự sắp xếp hợp lý nhất tránh trường hợp cần ngày ko đặt đc lịch thi và học lái theo lịch trình mon muốn

🚗 Licence Confusion Leads to a Pricey Lesson in Croydon Park

Just after 2:30 pm on Saturday, 18 October 2025, officers from Burwood Highway Patrol stopped a blue Suzuki sedan on Brighton Street, Croydon Park, for roadside testing.

When asked to produce his licence, the driver presented an overseas licence. Checks revealed the man was actually the holder of a Class C Learner Licence. When questioned, he stated he assumed he could continue using his overseas licence.

The 22-year-old Lakemba man was issued infringement notices for:
- Learner driver not displaying "L" plates as prescribed – $330 and 2 demerit points
- Learner not accompanied by a driver/police officer/tester – $1079

His licence was suspended for a period of three months.

Thán phục bà về sự quyết tâm và lòng can đảm ở cái tuổi "bà" ấy 👍👍👍

Thi 960 lần và tốn hơn 500 triệu mới được bằng lái xe, cụ bà Hàn Quốc 69 tuổi được tặng luôn ô tô để ăn mừng nhưng phản ứng của con cháu mới là điều cư dân mạng phải chú ý.

Cha Sa Soon, một phụ nữ Hàn Quốc đã vượt qua kỳ thi lấy bằng lái xe sau lần thi thứ 960. Trong 960 lần thi này bà đã trải qua phần thi lý thuyết 949 lần và phần thi thực hành 11 lần. Cha Sa-soon đã thi gần như hàng ngày kể từ năm 2005, với tổng chi phí thi lên tới 28,8 triệu won (khoảng 530 triệu đồng) trong nhiều năm. Điểm đỗ của bà là 60/100, mức điểm tối thiểu để đỗ. Khi bà cuối cùng vượt qua kỳ thi vào năm 2010, bà đã 69 tuổi. Bà đã được hãng Huyndai Motors tặng một chiếc xe Kia Soul nhờ kỷ lục ấn tượng này. Tuy nhiên chiếc xe đã hư hỏng hoàn toàn trong chưa đầy một năm sau bốn vụ va chạm với các lỗi như nhầm số tiến và số lùi, nhầm chân phanh với chân ga, đạp ga quá mạnh. Từ đó những thành viên trong gia đình của bà đã quyết định không để bà lái xe thêm một lần nào nữa. 😂😂😂
