🌿🦋 Get ready to go wild about Ballarat's biodiversity!
The inaugural Ballarat Biodiversity Week is almost here, bringing more than 40 events and activities celebrating the plants, animals, waterways, landscapes and people that make Ballarat such a special place to live.
Running from 1 to 7 August, the week has been created by Ballarat's environmental community and the City of Ballarat's Sustainable Environment team, marking two years since the adoption of the Biodiversity Strategy: Healing Country Together and the 10th anniversary of Woowookarung Regional Park.
With most events free or low cost, there's something for everyone, whether you're a lifelong nature lover or simply curious about the environment around you.
🌱 Highlights include:
• Look how far we've come: Ballarat's biodiversity story exhibition at Ballarat Town Hall
• The official opening of the new 10,000 Step Walk Trail at Woowookarung Regional Park
• A citywide BioBlitz, inviting residents to record local plants, animals and fungi using iNaturalist
📖 A dedicated 36-page program is now available online, with printed copies also available from libraries, community hubs, Visitor Information Centres and the Phoenix Customer Service Centre.
