Where Would You Sail First?

Every sailor has that one place they keep coming back to in their mind.

A quiet anchorage away from the crowds.
A coastline waiting to be explored.
An island you have always wanted to return to.
A bluewater passage you have been planning for years.
Or perhaps the first leg of a circumnavigation.

If your Seawind was ready to leave the dock today, where would you point the bows first?

Mediterranean, Pacific Islands, Caribbean, Australia’s coast or somewhere even further?

Tell us in the comments.

Award-winning for a reason.

What makes the Seawind 1170 the winner of multiple global awards - and the choice of both new sailors and seasoned mariners alike?

Sam Jefferson, editor of Sailing Today with Yachts & Yachting Magazine, and Mike Rees, Global Sales Director of Seawind Catamarans, will explore the design philosophy behind a catamaran built to perform where it matters most.

Named Multihull of the Year at the British Yachting Awards 2025, the Seawind 1170 earns its reputation through real sailing performance, practical design and unmistakable Australian sailing DNA.

Shallow Draft, Greater Cruising Freedom

The Seawind 1600 is genuinely different from other cats in her class - it starts with the daggerboards. Unlike fixed keels designed to perform reasonably in most conditions, the 1600 wasn't built around reasonable. While other cats are designed to be acceptable upwind, acceptable downwind, acceptable in a chop, the 1600 was designed around something else entirely: possibility.

Upwind, the difference is immediate. The deployed boards grip the water with real authority - less drift, better angle, more speed. On a long offshore passage, that difference isn't just satisfying. It's hours. Sometimes it's a weather window.

Downwind, the boards come up - and the boat transforms. Less drag, cleaner acceleration onto swells, more control when it matters most. Fixed-keel cats simply cannot replicate that feeling.

At the anchorage, cruising sailors truly fall in love with the design. Lift the boards completely and the 1600's draft becomes remarkably shallow for a 52-foot catamaran - opening up crystal clear lagoons, skinny channels, and remote bays that boats of her size simply cannot reach.

San Diego, Let’s Talk About Where Sailing Could Take You Next

There is something about San Diego that makes every sailing plan feel a little closer - the open water, the West Coast breeze, and a community built around life under sail.

From June 11–14, our US South West Coast dealer, West Coast Multihulls, will be at the San Diego International Boat Show to connect with sailors, dreamers, charterers, and future Seawind owners.

Because sometimes, the journey begins with a conversation at the dock.

Inside the Build: The Electrical Systems Behind Real Cruising

Behind every finished Seawind interior is a carefully planned electrical system designed to support real life onboard, from daily use to longer cruising ahead.

At this stage of the build, wiring runs, electrical looms, system layout and installation are carefully arranged to support reliability, accessibility and long-term performance at sea.

Inside the Seawind build process, these systems are organised before the interior fit-out begins, helping create a cleaner, more serviceable and dependable cruising platform for owners.

Each stage is also carefully checked as part of the quality control process, ensuring that key systems are reviewed before the build moves forward.

It is one of the many behind-the-scenes stages where practical offshore thinking, detailed craftsmanship and quality control come together.

“Why are we so fast? We never knew.”

For Klaus and Andrea Müller, sailing their Seawind 1260 around the world has brought more than unforgettable destinations. In the Maldives rally, they became the fastest boat every day, even against larger 50–60 ft boats.
