When multiple learners all pass their VORT in the past week it leaves lots of availability for me to take on new learners.

If you’re thinking about starting lessons or are at the other end and just need a lesson or 2 before going for your VORT get in touch and I’m sure I’ll be able to fit you in fairly quickly.

The Driving Companion is the best way for a supervising driver to stay up to date with the expectations of a learner. I tell all my learners to have a good look through the book, but it's a brilliant tool for parents to brush up on their knowledge too.
All learners come back from their first lesson with me with a little pocketbook of cheat sheets. They're reminders on how to do all the manoeuvres for a VORT as well as basic things like lane changing, merging, general driving info and things to keep an eye on. This booklet is also for the supervising drivers to help them help the learner between lessons.

It's a topic of conversation during every lesson with learners...how much driving have you done since our last lesson?
The answer I receive more often than not...I've done none.

The best way for a learner to build their confidence and their road awareness is to be on the road as much as possible between lessons. Driving between lessons helps a learner to practice the things we do during our lessons.

Learners must do 75 hours of driving including a minimum of 15 night hours whilst on their L's.

Let’s Talk Roundabouts!!

The usual statement when we start discussing them is,
“my mum and dad said you don’t have to signal to leave a roundabout, it’s not a real road rule and no one does it.”

Australian road law 118 says;
118—Giving a left change of direction signal when leaving a roundabout...
If practicable, a driver driving in a roundabout must give a left change of direction signal when leaving the roundabout.
Offence provision.

So, what does this mean? It means that when going either straight, turning right or doing a U-turn at a roundabout you MUST signal left (you are already signalling left if turning left) as you are leaving to let all other road users, (cars, bikes & pedestrians) know what you are doing. By indicating your intention to leave you are helping with the flow of traffic in all directions.
On the slides below you’ll see where exactly the best place is to signal when leaving a roundabout.

Take Two…

I thought i'd jump on and share some more information with new learners and families.

When you book in with me, I commit to you for the length of your learning journey. Once booked in, you have that timeslot, whether it be weekly, fortnightly, monthly etc. until you either get your license or stop for whatever reason you may have. I won't take on new learners for lessons unless I know I have that lesson time available long term.

Another busy week ahead with lessons.

Thanks to all who have liked or shared my business page, it’s much appreciated 🙏

It seems crazy to say after only 2 weeks in business, but my after school slots are totally booked out and are now officially closed until November.

The lessons I have available start from 9am with the last one beginning at 1:30 or 2pm depending on location.
