The Whitsunday MSQ team run fantastic educational courses and it’s always an eye opener when jackets don’t inflate or deploy correctly & the importance of maintaining safety gear.
Maritime safety in action in the Whitsundays 🚤
More than 60 students from Proserpine State High School and Whitsunday Christian College recently took part in an interactive session led by Maritime Safety Queensland and Whitsunday Water Police.
From understanding the Fatal 5 to what makes a good skipper, students got hands-on with real safety scenarios and equipment.
Highlights included:
✅ Lifejacket checks and safety equipment essentials
✅ A live flare demonstration
✅ Real-world emergency scenarios (with a few surprises along the way)
Building these skills early helps create safer, more confident boaties for the future.
