Happy wet Monday. Todays subjects are a couple of sets of Kawasaki Z1R controls.
These had a few issues common to these controls. The usual broken kill switch bases, failed solders etc. A few of the beam and indicator function control switch wires had been guillotined by the deformed support plate in one. One had a broken beam switch contact plate. All the usual stuff. 😁
They have been stripped, refinished and remarked. I have fitted new start buttons to both, beam and indicator control contact shuttles and thumb toggles to one and indicator and light switch toggles to both.
Some wire was replaced where necessary and the wiring resleeved.
The auto cancel solenoids for the indicators both tested as working so that's a bonus.
They should be good to go for a number of years again.
That'll do for my rambling. There's a heap of photos on this one.
All the best and thanks for reading.

Happy Suzuki RG500 Sunday. Todays subject is a left control from an RG500,
This is a fairly typical restoration of this type of switch. Functionally this one was in quite good condition though there was filth and corrosion in all of the switches.
The shells were painted, marked and sealed with 2K satin clear.
The indicator and horn toggles wouldn't clean up so were etch primed, sprayed in silver acrylic lacquer and sealed with gloss 2K clear. The pass toggle also wouldn't clean up due to UV damage. I took a cast from this and made a new one.
That's about it. I've been too busy to post much lately but have a few items finished for future posts. Tomorrow will be a couple of sets of Kawasaki Z1R controls.
All the best and thanks for reading.

Happy qu**ky Monday. No, no .... not that. 😂
One of the things that comes up with old switches from time to time is worn out detent racks in the kill switches. This generally happens when the ball rusts, becomes abrasive and jams in its bore.
The fix in this case was to mill a new one in aluminium.
Job done.
Post done.
I'm out of here. :)
All the best and as always, thanks for reading.

Happy i'm back saturday. I have been absent from facebook for a while due to some computer issues. My son has sorted these for me and my PC now runs windows 11. I bought a laptop to use in the interim but never could work out how to upload photos from it. It doesn't even have a slot for the cameras SD card and taking photos with my phone, emailing them to myself to get them into the laptop, downloading etc. still wouldn't get the job done. This is a chromebook and I'm used to windows. The issue probably lies with me being technologically challenged .....
Todays subject is three left controls for the '79? Suzuki GS1000. I don't often see these as they are quite rare controls. I have been looking for one of these for a customer for about 2 years without any luck.
I had 2 come in for general refurb followed by a third from another customer that was missing the brass cover plate, indicator switch toggle and k**b, beam and light on/off contact shuttles and contacts, plus the thumb toggles from these. Fortunately for this customer I had the other two in to clone the missing parts from.
The pictures mainly tell the story here but the control is now back in the Unzud.
I'll leave off here as I have a loom for a Honda CX500 based Trident trike to get done.
All the best, and as always thanks for reading.

Happy a few jobs Monday. Today we have a set from a Kawasaki Z650 F1, these are a resto and are fitted with new toggles and buttons for hazards, beam, start and light and indicator functions as well as a new contact shuttle for the beam control.
The right hand Suzuki Katana controls came in for me to fit the correct connector plug to the new old stock control on the left. On the right is one of my restos.
The remaining control is from a Z1000 Eddie Lawson replica. This one was also a full resto. No new parts here as everything cleaned up fit to reuse.
My posts have been a bit sparse lately as my PC was hacked through its unsecured and unsecurable telstra router.
I'll leave this here as I'm running well behind. All the best and thanks for reading.

All the best and thanks for reading. Enjoy thge remainder of the long weekend.
