Make sure you see and follow new speed limit signs in school zones.

School's back! 🚸 Make sure you slow down around schools and keep an eye out for students - especially around drop-off and pick-up times.

Remember, the new time-based 40km/h speed limit has already come into effect at 27 schools across Adelaide, which includes Golden Grove High School, Marryatville High and Goodwood Primary School. See the full list in the comments.

Installation began earlier this month for the next round of time-based 40km/h school zones following the announcement of another 38 schools. The new zones will be rolled out at 160 schools around the state by the end of this year.

The 40km/h speed limits will only apply during the busy school drop-off and pick-up period on school days at:
⌚8am to 9:30am
⌚2pm to 4pm

This excludes weekends, public and school holidays. The new 40km/h zones will be in place on roads near schools where the speed limit is 50km/h or above, and won’t replace the existing 25km/h school zones on local roads.

Passing parked cars is a relatively common driving test failure. The reason being that a learner driver may not effectively forward plan, is unable to predict a possible situation occurring or does not correctly judge a situation they are currently in, or simply do not know what to do in such a situation.The key to resolving a hazardous driving situation is thinking distance – the time it takes for a driver to react to a situation. Many learners fail tests not because they’re going too fast in legal terms, but because they don’t give themselves enough time to think. If the road ahead looks hazardous, ease off the accelerator, observe and think.
