Anyone SA seen the current run of SA Police ‘Motorcycle Saftey Awareness’ ad campaign using the common phrases that the riding community use in regards to the feelings riding gives people, but overlaying them on to motorcycle accidents. Almost twisting them to be a bad thing.
I've found a lot of people find them really distasteful, off putting or even just disrespectful to anyone who loves the activity with such a passion?
Like the first thing that came to mind as a similar sort of ’advertising’ if you will is how their required to put the horrible effects of smokes on the boxes themselves.
Almost treating riding like a bad drug people should just not involve themselves in rather just a ‘hey just be careful and watch yourselves out there’ more of a sentiment, which I could only hope was what they were aiming for.
A lot of people make some good points and bring up very reasonable issues on the campaign, so I've started a peition to have the campaign removed, or changed to better suit their intentions.
We'll see where it goes I guess and if I get some good traction I'll appeal to SAPOL to ask them nicely at first to reconsider their campaign.
