One day, a customer brought a motorcycle to our workshop and was extremely worried. π
The customer explained:
π "The kick starter has no resistance at all. When I try to kick-start the bike, I hear a chattering sound, but the engine won't start."
He also mentioned that: πΉ Fuel supply was normal
πΉ Ignition current was present
πΉ The spark plug was in good condition
Despite all of this, the motorcycle still would not start properly.
It would occasionally start with a push, but as soon as the throttle was released, the engine would stall immediately. β οΈ
We carried out a complete inspection of the motorcycle. π
The fuel system, ignition system, and most other components appeared to be functioning correctly. However, one issue became very clear:
π The engine was not producing proper compression.
At that point, we suspected that the problem was inside the cylinder head.
After removing and inspecting the cylinder head, the actual fault was revealed: π
β The exhaust valve was completely burnt.
β The intake valve and valve seat were heavily worn.
As a result: πΉ Compression was leaking.
πΉ The kick starter felt weak and lacked resistance.
πΉ The motorcycle could not start or run properly.
To fix the problem, we: β Installed new valves.
β Replaced the valve seals.
β Performed proper cylinder head fitting and gasket installation.
After reassembly and testing, Alhamdulillah: π
β
Compression was fully restored.
β
The kick starter regained proper resistance.
β
The motorcycle started easily.
β
The engine ran smoothly.
β
The customer was very satisfied. π
Conclusion
Not every motorcycle fault is caused by fuel or ignition problems. β
Sometimes the real issue lies within the engine itself, such as valve damage, compression loss, or cylinder head defects. π§
Lesson Learned
A motorcycle problem cannot be diagnosed accurately without a thorough inspection.
A true mechanic is one who identifies the root cause of the fault rather than simply replacing parts. π₯
