Munali Suns are BIBC Champions once again!

Munali Suns have once again shown exactly why they are Zambian National Champions, defending their Bravehearts International Basketball Challenge (BIBC) title with a commanding 77–55 victory over Matero Magic.

Under the guidance of Coach David Musonda, assisted by Jeremiah Chenge, Daniel Kashembe and Chansa Chanda, the Suns controlled the contest from the opening quarter.

By the end of the third, Suns had stretched the advantage to 61–40, and they never looked back.

Former Midlands Basketball Association (MBA) Secretary General Yvonne Mushimwa K***a has bid an emotional farewell to the MBA family after taking up the role of Secretary General of the Zambia Basketball Federation (ZBF).

K***a, who has played an important role in the administration and development of basketball within the Midlands region, shared a heartfelt message with members of the MBA forum before officially stepping away from the association.

In her message, K***a expressed gratitude to the MBA family for the journey they shared, while acknowledging that the association played a major role in shaping her career as a basketball administrator.

«“I would like to say thank you to all of you for making MBA what it is. We have come a long way and can only get better from here on.”»

K***a also assured members that her new national responsibility would not mean the end of her relationship with the association.

«“I look forward to working with you even if it will not be as part of the MBA family.”»

Perhaps the most touching part of her message was her acknowledgement of the role MBA played in her journey.

«“I'm a basketball administrator because of this association.”»

With emotions running high, K***a urged members to continue supporting the MBA Executive just as they supported her during her time in office.

«“Keep supporting the MBA Executive the way you supported me. I will always cherish every argument, disagreement, laughter we shared.”»

Defending champions Munali Suns have booked their place in the BBIC final after defeating Malawi champions Bravehearts 59–49 in a fiercely contested Semi-Final 2.

The clash between the reigning champions of Zambia and Malawi lived up to expectations, with both sides producing an intense battle for a place in the championship game.

Munali Suns came out firing, displaying their trademark dominance in the opening two quarters and establishing early control of the contest. However, Bravehearts refused to go down without a fight, mounting a strong comeback behind their quality offensive play.

Zambian international Taonga Ngoma was instrumental in Bravehearts' attacking response, helping the Malawian champions stay within touching distance. But Munali's defense, marshalled by David Musonda, continued to frustrate their opponents.

In the paint, Douglas Kandulu was a major force for the Suns, protecting the basket with authority and making life extremely difficult for Bravehearts' attackers.

Despite Bravehearts' efforts to turn the game around, Munali remained composed when it mattered most. Wakunguma delivered the decisive moments to put the final nail in Bravehearts' coffin as the defending champions sealed a 59–49 victory.

The result sets up an all-Zambian BBIC final later this evening.
