MECHANICAL TIPS OF
BUYING A SECOND HAND CAR
DONT GET GONGAD
1. Check if the engine is dirty with oils and if it has so many leaks.
2. If the exhaust emissions appear blue-wish that car needs engine attention.
3. If the tail of the exhaust pipe is oily, then that car is not okey.
4. Remove the oil cap and run the engine, should you notice vapour or smoke been emitted then its a bad engine.
5. Remove the dip stick and smell the oil, should it have a strong stench its a bad engine.
6. For engine with breather pipes hanging out check for emissions and if oil is coming out, those are signs of a tired engine.
7. Check how long it's taking for the oil light to go off, it shouldn't take more than 3 to 5 seconds.
8. Leave the engine on idle and observe if the engine is running irregularly.
9. Check the steering play it shouldn`t be to much.
10. Take a test drive on both good roads and bad ones and feel the suspension and how gear engagement is flowing.
11. Bounce the car to check for the state of the shocks.
12. Check for body filler.
