I am grateful to have represented our institution at the advanced mental health workshop for counselors, therapists, and clinicians, which came to an end today. The training was facilitated by the District Mental Health Office, Ministry of Health, and Chainama Hills Hospital. This GLOBAL FUND-supported training provided valuable insights we’ll be applying with our teams going forward.

Anxiety doesn’t have to control your life.
In today’s mental health talk, we explored practical tools to calm the mind, manage overwhelming thoughts, and regain emotional balance. Healing starts with awareness, small daily habits, and the courage to ask for support. The last one is on tomorrow.
Breathe. Pause. Reset. You are stronger than your anxiety. # yourmentalhealththerapist

This Mental Health Awareness Month, I had the privilege of joining the ZNBC TV2 team for an important conversation on why silence around mental health can cost lives.
We explored the realities affecting many Zambians from academic pressure and unemployment to loneliness, grief, and stigma among children, young adults, and the elderly. We also discussed the Mental Health Act of 2019, the importance of recognising warning signs early, and why seeking help is an act of courage, not weakness.
One powerful reminder stood out: “Healing often begins with one conversation.”
No matter how heavy things may feel, hope is still possible. You do not have to suffer in silence. Reach out, speak up, and allow others to walk the journey with you.

We’ve seen the headlines. We’ve felt the loss. Mental health struggles are real in Zambia today. Rising cases, one solution: Talk. Strength means speaking up. Talk to someone you trust. Seek professional help.
