This Mental Health Awareness Month, I had the privilege of joining the ZNBC TV2 team for an important conversation on why silence around mental health can cost lives.
We explored the realities affecting many Zambians from academic pressure and unemployment to loneliness, grief, and stigma among children, young adults, and the elderly. We also discussed the Mental Health Act of 2019, the importance of recognising warning signs early, and why seeking help is an act of courage, not weakness.
One powerful reminder stood out: “Healing often begins with one conversation.”
No matter how heavy things may feel, hope is still possible. You do not have to suffer in silence. Reach out, speak up, and allow others to walk the journey with you.
