In my opinion I think it does, considering what you are getting on the package, this is not a plug-in hybrid but rather self-charging hybrid...

The Volkswagen Plant Kariega built 17 009 vehicles in July 2026; the highest monthly production record in the company’s history.

The July production record is more than the annual volume achieved in the first 15 years of vehicle assembly at Kariega.

Of the record volume, 13 490 units were Polos for the local and export market, while 3 519 were Vivos for South African customers.

By the end of July, the plant had built a total of 4 836 371 vehicles to date since 1948. Nearly 40 models have been built at Plant Kariega throughout its long history.
