reliable DSG gearboxes in their sports models. Practically any sports car with a 6 or 7 speed gearbox utilises a fast-acting and resilient direct shift automatic transmission. Many manufacturers use direct shift gearboxes with brand names. For example:

Audi’s S Tronic.
Porsche’s PDK.
BMW’s Dual-Clutch Transmission.
All of these automatic transmissions work in exactly the same way as a standard DSG. The first manufacturer to install a DSG unit was Volkswagen in the Golf Mk4 R32 and, shortly after, the Audi TT 3.2. There are several different names for direct shift gearboxes, depending on the manufacturer, but they all operate in the same way.
