With an incredible list of victories and championships across South African V8 racing, Franco has built a reputation as one of the country's true V8 legends.

His passion for thunderous V8 machinery is second to none, and we're thrilled to welcome him to the Backdraft Racing Series for the first time this year at the 4 Hours of Maputo! 🇲🇿🏁

And we've been hearing a few whispers in the paddock... 👀

In just two weeks, the Backdraft Racing Series heads north to the spectacular Autódromo Internacional de Maputo (ATCM) in Mozambique for Round 4 of the championship.

A large field of Backdraft Cobras will make the journey from our home base in Durban to battle it out in the 4 Hours of Maputo—one of the most anticipated races of the season.

Fast, demanding and unforgettable, this endurance challenge will test every driver, every team and every machine.

Fast, flowing, technical... and completely unforgiving.

The Autódromo Internacional de Maputo is one of Southern Africa's hidden gems. At just over 3.9 km, the circuit combines long straights with high-speed sweepers, heavy braking zones and a mix of technical corners that reward precision and punish mistakes.

Drivers need commitment through the fast sections, patience in the tighter corners and the confidence to carry speed without running out of road. Finding the perfect rhythm is the secret to a quick lap.

With close racing, multiple overtaking opportunities and very little room for error, Maputo has all the ingredients for spectacular motorsport.

Often overlooked, the mirrors on our Backdraft Cobras are one of the most important tools a racing driver has.

Mirrors play a vital role in race craft, helping drivers defend their position, judge overtaking opportunities, and stay aware of everything happening around them.

With multiple classes competing in the Backdraft Racing Series, speed differences are all part of the challenge. Some cars may be lapping you, while others are fighting for the same position. Constant awareness is essential.

That's why you'll often see our drivers adjusting their mirrors the moment they climb into the cockpit. A perfectly positioned rear-view mirror can make all the difference between a clean battle and a missed opportunity.

From qualifying to the chequered flag, teams choose who sets the qualifying lap and who drives the first, second and third stints. They also decide when to make their pit stops, provided they stay within the regulations.

Every decision can have a major impact on the final result. The right strategy can gain valuable time, while one wrong call can change the outcome of the race.
