Fuel prices are hitting South Africans hard this June โฝ๐ธ
Petrol prices have officially increased by R1.43 per litre, pushing coastal prices (like Cape Town) to around R27.19/litre โ with inland prices reaching record highs ๐ณ
While petrol is going up, there is some relief:
Diesel prices have dropped by up to R3.25 per litre, and paraffin is also significantly cheaper.
So why the increase?
The main reason isnโt just oil prices โ itโs the reduction in government fuel levy relief, which added about R1.50 per litre back onto petrol.
This means motorists are now paying more at the pump, even though market conditions could have allowed for a decrease.
