It was just like every other day for Stan. On that particular day, he was trekking down to his work place around 5pm to resume work by 6pm. He received a call from Emeka who told him someone wants to pay him 800k. He said the money would bounce back because he operates students' account.
He asked Stan if it would be possible to use his, when the money drops he would find him something.
Both have known themselves during their days at Unical. Emeka claims to be a bet predictor on Facebook. People buy games from him and he delivers.
Before Stan could reach his working place ( a hotel. He works as a Bar Man) he received a total of 815k. This amount has never hit his bank account before. He called Emeka that the money has dropped, then resqueeting how he would get it. He was told to go to POS and withdraw 700k and keep the remaining 115k for himself. Stan who makes 25k a month couldn't imagine what such amount could do for him. He did as Emeka said.
5months later, Stan wanted to make a transaction using his bank, notification was sent to him that he cannot be able to make a transaction, he should go to bank and rectify the issue. Innocent him.... He went to Access Bank Plc, to know what could go wrong. When he approached the customer care and stated his concern, he was asked to drop his details in order to figure out the issue.
Few minutes later, he was asked to come to the manager's office. Reaching the office, he was well welcomed and was asked what happens to his account, and he narrated. Then questions started flying from one angle to another. Doors locked, two policemen stations already at the door step.
Stan was asked if he had ever been to Ibadan, what business did he do with someone from Ibadan. He denied knowing anything. A transaction slip was printed out and he was asked to explain everything about the transaction. Then his mind went back to what happened. He told them everything and how it happened.
Stan was locked up for two weeks in Bayelsa. The division in Ibadan where the court order was made was contacted. Within 2weeks, they arrived Bayelsa, he was handcuffed and was taken to Ibadan. Emeka denied knowing anything about the transaction.
It's 5yrs already, Stan is still serving somewhere in Ibadan prison.
