Valve clearance time on this old XS400…

Replacing diaphragms on the xs400. Supposedly they should *easily* stretch and come off for replacement.

Like anything on a 40+ year old bike, nothing is easy.

Both the old diaphragms tore and the new ones turned out to be less than quality. 😡

Might be time for new slides and diaphragms from Mikesxs…

Super knobby bridgestone battlax dual sport tires ✅

Mounting tires manually.
Rear tire was easier than the front. Be mindful of the tire spoons pressing on the inner tube and poking a hole. I now need a new tube for the front tire.
So sad to get this far and not able to button it all back up!
Big thanks to my neighbor for joining and helping!

Fabricated a tray/mud guard combo that is removable. Used a simple metal brake to bend the sheet metal. Turned out nicely!

Tuned the carbs, replaced the sprockets and got the new chain on. Back tire leaks air so no rides yet 🤨

When you drill and extract a bolt that broke off but then the extractor also breaks off inside 🤣😳😥

After a lot of thinking and researching, I decided to try swapping my coil connections to see if that could be the issue…
