BYD recently showcased the Leopard Bao 8 demonstrating its advanced DiSus-P Ultra active hydraulic suspension system. A technology capable of lifting an individual wheel up to 300mm without needing a jack or any physical intervention from the driver.
The system can even be controlled directly from a smartphone, allowing the wheel height to be raised or lowered remotely. Even more impressively, the Bao 8 remains capable of driving with only three wheels touching the ground.
But this isn’t just a futuristic party trick. The suspension is constantly adapting to terrain conditions in real time to improve off-road capability, ride comfort and stability, while also giving the SUV the ability to perform unusual movements like climbing a staircase in reverse.
Unlike most concept-style demonstrations, the Leopard Bao 8 is a real production SUV preparing to hit the roads, offering a glimpse into how smart suspension systems could completely change the way future vehicles solve problems for drivers.
