What are you working on? asks this question every chance he gets. Well, here is one of the projects we are working on. It's an old 1958 Dodge 400 former dump truck turned ratrod. Literally. Rats had taken over and turned it into a condo. We've since evicted the varmits and done a bit of cleaning. Anyway, this thing had tons of cool going on with its rake, stacks and saddle tanks but was a Ralph Nader special. Unlike the hapless Corvair, that Ralph did his best to kill, this truck truly was unsafe at any speed. So, all the old wore out and rusted stuff is going away and what is cool and appealing is getting grafted onto the remains of a 1994 Chevy 1 ton dually frame and driveline. We are using the floor and firewall from that truck and are in the process of marrying it to the '58 cab, which needed a floor anyway. The seating/driving position is much improved and once complete, we will be able to tow our 40' 5th wheel race trailer at (near) highway speeds, with all of the modern comforts!

Here at GaragemahalBFG, cars trucks and other motorized conveyances have our mostly undivided attention. This sort of thing grabs what's left. Before heading to the garage, enjoy the sunrise each day (fave morning beverage in hand) and if you missed it yesterday whist working on your car, truck, boat, plane or whatever, here is a memorable sunset to round out your life! At this year's SCCA Ru offs, I had the pleasure and honor of opening race day 1, with my rendition of the National Anthem. And they took a picture and video, so it definitely happened!

This is there. The will get carefully dumped into place tomorrow. And no seats, hood, fenders, or engine bay in the way!. The entire rear of the doghouse and lid are removable. We left the passenger door off when we lifted it but we might pull it, to make things even easier. This is how you work on a Forward Control van on a nice early fall day. All doors open and in the shade!

About to get the ole 69 NoDoor up and running once again, with a new to her, SBC treefiddy. Yeah, LS swap the world, and SBC is so cookie cutter etc. but this is a factree small block manual trans truck, so that's what its getting albeit with 43 no cubes. With any luck, burnouts by noon. Could probably have it running in an hour or two but Jr is coming by in the early hours to throw it in the bay and honestly, that is what this hobby is all about. Family and friends turning wrenches, joking, sometimes cussing, and accomplishing great things together! Therefore, as much as I want to hear it run today, I will wait one more day to make exhaust and tire smoke. BTW, these are the smells of sweet satisfaction for a job well done.

Ok exciting news! Sad in that the Green Meanie is going down the road but happy in the way that it's going back to the previous owner. We made a new deal that will serve Garage Mahal better than having 2 Corvettes. This 40' triple axle race trailer. That will be towed by a custom truck consisting of the 58 Dodge cab that will be, along with all its cool factors, grafted onto the 1994 Silverado dually chassis and driveline. Actually, we are going to use the floor and firewall of the dually too. So, an upcoming project after we have some others completed in short order. More on those and this stuff soon.

Just a boy and his dargh in what was then a brand new and mostly unpopulated Garagemahal, circa June 2015. 8 years on this place is stuffed to the gills and she and I both are much grayer. But one thing is the same, we both love hanging out in this place.

Great race today at the I missed seeing the podium celebration in person BUT we were celebrating the sweep of Stohr WF1s in P2. In we didn't claim the too spot, but our cars led and 2 Stohr designed cars finished in the top 3! While there was disappointment and heartache for some, others had a great day and all cars survived more or less intact. Well done all!

LS10SS got an attitude adjustment for my birthday!. and provided the assist. Tubular uppers and lowers with drop spindles and new springs took about 3" of front ride height and got it looking jest raight!

is just another sad brand name without any reason to patronize any longer. Actually, there are good reasons not to, the most important being the brand is now nothing but a lie. It wasn't always that way but is now. Got to call it as I see it. I should have given up on them after the Corvette balancer general they pulled (there's a post on it, they promised several times to look into crappy part but did nothing but waste my time) but I didn't learn my lesson... I have now. Why pay a premium when what you get is white boxed part inside branded box. Will not pay extra for a pretty box. . Best bet is to go direct to China to buy parts. P**s off AC Delco!

Quarantine be damned... its Thursday and that means Freddy's car hangout. We are (not surprisingly) the only ones, which means despite the rebelliousnous of showing up here, we are still very socially distant. Oh well, back to the ranch but first, some frozen custard.
