HOW TO RECYCLE EV BATTERIES: A SUSTAINABLE SOLUTION

Curious about what happens to EV batteries when they reach the end of their life?
Now we will demonstrate how sustainable EV brands recycles to protect the environment and conserve resources.

The Three Main Recycling Methods:
📌Hydrometallurgical Recycling: This is the most efficient method, using liquid solutions to extract valuable minerals while minimizing environmental impact.
📌Direct Recycling: This innovative approach disassembles batteries without breaking down their chemical structure, allowing for easier recovery of materials.
📌Pyrometallurgical Recycling: This method involves melting down batteries to recover metals but is less eco-friendly compared to hydrometallurgical processes.

The Recycling Process
♻️Pre-processing
The journey begins with the removal of the battery from the vehicle, which is then sent to a specialized facility for disassembly into modules.
♻️Hydrometallurgical Stage
This stage includes several critical steps:
- Extraction of Black Mass: Battery cells are broken down to obtain "black mass," a powder rich in essential metals like cobalt, lithium, and nickel.
- Separation of Metals: Electrodes are separated from aluminum and copper foils using chemical or thermal methods.
- Dissolving Black Mass: The black mass is dissolved in a solution, isolating the metals for easier recovery.
- Metal Recovery: Solvent extraction separates valuable elements like lithium and cobalt for reuse in new batteries.

Hydrometallurgical recycling boasts an impressive recovery rate of up to 99%, all while treating wastewater and producing safe byproducts like sodium sulfate, which can be used in everyday products.

Recycling EV batteries is crucial for reclaiming valuable resources and fostering a sustainable future. By embracing hydrometallurgical recycling, we can efficiently recover key materials while minimizing our environmental footprint.

On September 9, 2014, MET EV had an electrifying day as we hosted a vibrant focus group session with ten enthusiastic students from diverse universities! This wasn’t just any meeting; it was an exhilarating opportunity to dive into the minds of our future customers and explore their experiences and expectations for our upcoming MET Station project. Plus, participants got to take our cutting-edge KAGO vehicle for a thrilling test drive!

The insights we gathered were nothing short of invaluable! The students shared their candid thoughts and creative suggestions, helping us sharpen our understanding of what truly ignites consumer interest. Their feedback will play a pivotal role in shaping a project that truly resonates with our audience.

GLOBAL BATTERY DEMAND WHILE VIETNAM'S ELECTRIC VEHICLE SURGE

It’s a beautiful day when taking a walk around EV reports, MET realized even though despite being a junior in Vietnam's Market, Electric Vehicles have generated significant local interest, with nearly 70% of survey participants expressing a tendency to buy an EV (including full EVs and hybrid vehicles). Therefore, 95% of global battery demand related to EVs is a result of higher EV sales.
