The scale of the universe is almost impossible to truly comprehend. Earth may feel vast to us, but it is just a tiny part of a cosmic ocean containing an estimated 3.2 trillion planets. Many of these worlds could be completely different—some covered in oceans, others frozen, and some possibly capable of supporting life.
Our Sun is just one of about 200 billion stars in our galaxy. Some stars are far larger and brighter, while others are smaller and dimmer. Around many of them, planets are still being discovered, showing how much we have yet to learn.
All of this exists within the Milky Way, a massive spiral galaxy stretching roughly 100,000 light-years across. Yet even this enormous galaxy is only one of around 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe.
Each galaxy contains billions or even trillions of stars, meaning the total number of planets could be far beyond what we can count. When we look into deep space, we are also looking back in time, as light from distant galaxies takes billions of years to reach us.
In the end, this perspective is both humbling and fascinating. While we may seem small in such a vast universe, it also means there are endless possibilities still waiting to be discovered.
