Harley service manual on most bikes. Says to replace fuel filter at a 100k miles.
I looked into it and most filters fail around 20k or depending if your running E85 fuel much sooner.

So, I spent $25 dollars and switched mine out today. Saving a $700 dollar bill. It took about 3hrs taking my time and the the fuel filter is tangled up in the tank and after fishing it out.

It was easy from there, replaced tank gasket while here as well. At 18k miles my filter was black and dirty.
