Sports in Kansas Football Player to Watch: Pearce George, (6โ1 185), Maize, Sr. WR/DB
Pearce George enters his senior season as one of the premier wide receivers in Kansas after an outstanding junior campaign. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound playmaker earned First Team Sports in Kansas All-State, First Team Sports in Kansas Non-Senior All-State ,and First Team AVCTL honors after helping Maize to a 10-1 record. George finished 2025 with 1,008 all-purpose yards and 24 total touchdowns, including 46 receptions for 707 yards and 17 receiving scores while adding five rushing touchdowns, a kick return touchdown and a pick-six. His career totals include 1,597 all-purpose yards and 30 touchdowns, and his strong play earned offers from South Dakota, Northeastern State and Missouri Western State before committing to South Dakota. He'll be joined by standout teammates Colton Curry, Demarye Smith and Drake Blasi as Maize looks to make another deep postseason run.
George is motivated by last season's playoff exit and has high expectations for both himself and his team. "I'm very excited for this upcoming season, especially after getting knocked out of the playoffs last year," George said. "I'm going into this year with a chip on my shoulder because I know my potential and my team's potential. I plan on doing even more to help my team, and I believe we're going to make another great run this year." One thing many people may not know is that George spent most of his football career at quarterback before transitioning to wide receiver midway through his sophomore season. He credits that move as a blessing and is eager to continue building on his success during his final high school season.
