NOW HIRING! Looking for a Service Writer for a Diesel & Heavy Equipment Repair Shop.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Service Writer who can manage the full workflow of repair jobs—from customer intake to completion, including parts ordering and inventory control. This role is key to keeping the shop organized, efficient, and profitable.
Responsibilities
Greet customers and gather detailed information on truck/equipment issues
Open and manage repair orders for diesel trucks and heavy equipment
Communicate with technicians regarding diagnostics, labor needs, and timelines
Provide estimates and keep customers updated throughout the repair process
Order parts, track deliveries, and ensure timely availability for jobs
Maintain parts inventory, stock levels, and organize storage
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to source quality parts at competitive pricing
Recommend preventative maintenance and additional services
Schedule jobs to keep workflow efficient and reduce downtime
Handle invoicing, billing, and follow-up with customers
Qualifications
Experience as a Service Writer, Parts Coordinator, or similar role in diesel/heavy equipment repair preferred
Strong understanding of diesel engines, heavy equipment, or truck systems (preferred)
Experience with parts sourcing, ordering, and inventory management
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
Familiarity with shop management or inventory software is a plus
Valid driver’s license (CDL is a bonus)
