Looking back at an unforgettable day โ€“ July 18, 2026! ๐Ÿš”

The Hazzard County Patrol car made its maiden voyage to its very first car show and meet-and-greet in Warwick, New York, and what a way to kick things off!

After about a two-hour drive, we met up with Tom Wopat (Luke Duke) and the Jersey General and had an absolutely amazing time. Tom was incredibly friendly, put on an awesome concert at Yesterdays Irish Pub, and made the day even more memorable. One of the coolest moments was when he noticed he had already signed my trunk lid and was kind enough to sign it again. That was a really special touch.

The weather held out perfectly, the crowd was great, and we met a lot of awesome new people who share the same passion for The Dukes of Hazzard.
I also want to give a very special thank you to John Christison and Peggy, the owners of Yesterday's Irish Pub. They were absolutely fabulous, incredibly accommodating, and made everyone feel right at home.

Their hospitality was second to none. If you're ever in the Warwick, New York area, I highly recommend stopping by. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was fantastic, and it's well worth the trip.

To top off the evening, we lit up the patrol car and had a little friendly chase with the General Lee through the parking lot. Unfortunately, the best part wasn't caught on video, but I did finally catch the General Lee! Of course, if you ask Jersey General, he'll probably deny it ever happened. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Looks like we'll have to do it again so I can catch him on camera next time... then I'll finally cuff 'em and stuff 'em!

A huge thank you to everyone who made the day so much fun. This was the perfect first outing for the Hazzard County Patrol, and I can't wait to see where the next adventure takes us.

๐Ÿš” Restoration Update โ€“ It's Finally Got the Sound! ๐Ÿš”

The next project on the Hazzard County Patrol car was giving it the sound it deserved.

We installed a true dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, and it completely transformed the car. Nothing beats that deep, classic Mopar rumble when you fire it up.

A huge thank you to Jodi and the team at Bargain Brakes & Muffler for doing an incredible job. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were outstanding, and I couldn't be happier with the results. If you're looking for exhaust work, I highly recommend giving them a call.

One more step completed on bringing this 1976 Dodge Coronet patrol car back to life. Plenty more upgrades are still to come, so be sure to follow along as the restoration continues!

๐Ÿš” HAZZARD COUNTY PATROL CAR โ€” PART 2 ๐Ÿš”

So after the 21-gallon gas leak debacle from Part 1, it was time to keep moving forward.

We replaced the fuel tank and fuel lines, got everything back together, and drove the car home. Of course, when a car has been sitting for a long time, once you start driving it and getting fluids moving through everything again, you quickly find out what else needs attention.
And sure enoughโ€ฆ the list started growing. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The brakes started locking up, and we also discovered part of the transmission was leaking. At that point, instead of trying to patch things together, we decided to do it right.

The transmission came out and was completely rebuilt, along with a new shift kit.

While we were at it, we decided the original 2-barrel setup could use an upgrade, so we converted it over to a 4-barrel carburetor with a new intake manifold.

Then came the brakes. We went through the braking system and replaced the brakes and brake lines all the way around, including new calipers, pads, and rotors.

And since the car is now 50 years old, the underside naturally had some surface rust from all those years. Since we were already this deep into it, we cleaned everything up and coated the underside of the car to help protect it going forward.
So at this point we've got:

๐Ÿ”ง New fuel tank & fuel lines
๐Ÿ”ง Rebuilt transmission
๐Ÿ”ง New shift kit
๐Ÿ”ง 2-barrel converted to a 4-barrel
๐Ÿ”ง New carburetor & intake manifold
๐Ÿ”ง New brakes & brake lines all the way around
๐Ÿ”ง New calipers, pads & rotors
๐Ÿ”ง Underside cleaned up & coated
You would think after all of that we'd finally be ready to enjoy the car...
Yeahโ€ฆ not quite. ๐Ÿ˜‚

All of this led us straight into a whole different adventure and another list of things that needed to be replaced.

๐Ÿš” Follow along for Part 3 โ€” because this old Hazzard County patrol car wasn't finished with us yet!

After getting the basic tune-up and maintenance taken care of, the Hazzard County Patrol Car was actually running pretty wellโ€ฆ for a little while. ๐Ÿš”

But with any car thatโ€™s been sitting for an extended period, once you start driving it again and get fuel and fluids moving through everything, you know problems are eventually going to show themselves.

Sure enough, shortly after picking the car up and driving it, it stalled out.
After some troubleshooting, we found the problem โ€” the fuel pump that was still on the car appeared to be the ORIGINAL one. After nearly 50 years, Iโ€™d say it did its job! ๐Ÿ˜‚ So, of course, that was replaced right away.
Problem solvedโ€ฆ or so I thought.
The very next day, I took the car out again and came home to another surprise.

The original fuel tank decided it had enough too. Between the old fuel that had been sitting in it and finally putting the car back into service, the tank sprung a leak and dumped approximately 21 GALLONS OF GAS into my garage. ๐Ÿ˜ณโ›ฝ

Thankfully, we caught it, but that little incident was the beginning of realizing that if I was going to make this car dependable again, there were going to be a LOT more things that needed attention.
And thatโ€™s where the real work startedโ€ฆ
To be continued. ๐Ÿš”
