Doing some maintenance over at

If you know me by now you know intry my best to stay in front of maintenance and im always researching.

All in all upon getting guidance from Juan i got cam seals, crank seal, Gates timing belt, all original bearings, tensioner and water pump.. and for extra protection i went ahead and got the ATI crank pulley for extra piece of mind.

An embodiment of extreme. In comparison to other cars i have posted this one was meant to hurt feelings on a track with all creature comforts taken away.

Not the usual sight for most folks when they think of Subaru now, especially on the US market. I enjoy this machine as it shows that Subarus can hold it’s own with the “legends” and still be stylish.

Innovation for response was the name of the game with how this engine’s aspiration was setup. The intake plenum is an original design for JUN.

MCR, P3 - Gentleman Rivalry

With no real timeline on the next generation of GT-R tuning houses decided to push boundaries even further on the most recent chassis, the BNR34. Mr. Niikura of MINES and Mr. Kobayashi of MCR shared many punches with both their BNR34 demo cars.

Both setup pretty similarly, even the same HKS GT2530 twin turbo setup, albeit MINES developed parts in house while MCR opted for a big host of HKS and ARC components. What made Mr. Kobayashi stands out is that he was never shy about hopping in the driver seat to show that he not only has the knowledge but the sheer bravery to push his demo car to the limit.

It is not a rare sight to this day to see Mr. Kobayashi putting in hours at the track.

In a land where people live and die by the pursuit of perfection it’s not enough to only show up.. but to also improve. A well balanced machine isn’t made overnight with off the shelf parts put together with no testing.. any machine you see out there setting records or running all day at your local event has HUNDREDS of man-hours behind them… this philosophy is proven with The MCR R34.

The magic behind that machine isn’t it’s host of ARC and HKS bits but it’s sheer spirit that it exudes from it’s bones. This car was heavily developed on the C1 route of the shuto expressway which favors balance and grip, Mr. Kobayashi likes to maintain somewhat intact interiors aiming for a “track ready” street car over a “track car for the street”.

Matchless Crowd Racing; MCR-ism

Up next i would like to feature the founder of Matchless Crowd Racing (MCR) Mr. Shinichi Kobayashi! He founded MCR in 1994 and has made no small task leaving his impression with his machines, namely GTR’s, over the years.

“The intelligence of the tuner and the sensitivity hidden by the driver. Although it is an opposite element, if any of it is missing Isn’t it impossible to embody the ideal tuning? Even if you only wave the theories on the desk, the road will never open. The opposite is also true….., so.” A mission statement crafted by his philosophy of extensive PERSONAL testing as he always believes that parts do not make a car, a driver does… this resonates heavily with me.

What has been referred to as a car that “can make a dead man scream” by Mr. Keiichi Tsuchiya, the MINES R34 was a representation of balance, response and force. Part of this response was due to a few things, firstly, turbine choice, stock placement HKS GT2530s. Maintaining the factory ITB system, carbon fiber drive shaft and gearing. The trick for gearing was for one, the N1 getrag 6 speed sported closer 1st through 5th gears than the standard unit, but also, R33 GTS-4 Differential ratios were used to bump up acceleration. (4.11 final drive vs a 3.55)

The engine was a stage II MINES RB26 which was controlled by a VX-ROM Ecu. A MINES 270 L/H high capacity fuel pump was used along with MINES intake system, full MINES exhaust system. The considerable 600ps power plant put the power to the ground through a MINES carbon twin plate clutch and the foot work was supplied by MINES ESTA suspension featuring spring rates of 14k front and rear, MINES spec BBS RE magnesium evolution wheels 18x10.2 inches square, 380mm front braking system from Brembo and a set if 343mm system in the rear also from Brembo, and to finish it off, Bridgestone RE-01 tires.

MINES P.3, Primetime

Now in my opinion, the BNR34 N1 demo car is the visual representation of all that MINES as a team has learned over the decade and it carries the torch effortlessly.

Being a fully touched and sorted car, Niikura-san sought to do a fully tuned machine while still maintaining his air of simplicity, starting with the N1 chassis makes sense in this case as basically a JGTC ready body in white race chassis for the street with limited production numbers, it makes you understand that this car was a fully thought out machine.
