To do this, we will be raffling off gift cards to local businesses so we can also support them!

We haven’t posted in a while since the fundraiser ended but we love to see how many others have taken over this cause or started their own during these difficult 2020 times. We are proud to live in such an amazing community! And today our very own Christmas angel delivered...
Our mail came late last night, after the girls went to bed. And there was a package labeled to them. Early this morning when they woke up they were SO EXCITED to have their very own box to open from the mail (let’s face it, most packages come in my name, lol).
LOOK what was inside! Along with this letter (and special membership to Roaring Brook Nature Center) there were walkie talkies and very special hand made plush nesting dolls. The girls LOVE these gifts and will for sure spend hours and hours playing with them. More-so, I already know they will cherish them for a very, very long time because of the story behind them.
What we experienced this morning is the sort of event you never forget. It’s the sort of event that shapes you and helps you continue to “do the next right thing.” To the person who sent this, we will never be able to fully express how much this means to all of us. Thank you for touching our lives this 2020 Christmas season!
For everyone else reading this, you now know WITH CERTAINTY that there are angels on Earth. If you don’t yet feel their presence, BE their presence. Never underestimate the power of a kind word, some encouragement, a smile, an honest compliment, or an act of kindness.

We are still finalizing with some phone calls, but money raised through our fundraiser has gone towards a variety of causes:

-2 iPads and 2 Cases donated to Cherry Brook Health Care Center
-$340 donated to theconsciouskid.org
-Donation to the McLean Staff Fund
-Donation to Canton Social Services
-Donation of 1 Adirondack chair for the Canton Firehouse to socially distance
-Reloaded gift cards for Volunteer EMS meals

All while supporting many local small businesses and helping our children meet a goal they set and helping them see they can make a difference. A huge thank you to everyone who has participated. Small Business Spotlight - D.A.N.C.E. by Kristin, LLC

This small business spotlight is bittersweet for a variety of different reasons. Not only is it our final small business spotlight for our community fundraiser that has been more successful than anything we could’ve imagined, but today would’ve been Emma’s 3rd and Maegan’s 2nd dance recital in Ms. Kristin’s 10th (10th!!!!!) D.A.N.C.E. By Kristin year. Unfortunately, it was unable to happen today due to the current pandemic leaving many dancers and teachers (and possibly one Dancin’ Dad) sad. However, we are honored to spotlight this dance studio today. Ms. Kristin and Ms. Allie did not miss a beat and began virtual zoom dance classes right away and our girls LOVED IT. They got to see their teachers and friends, have some normalcy in their week, and most importantly have fun every time. If you are a new parent, or an experienced one, looking for a discipline where your child can learn, grow, go outside their comfort zone, and have fun; you need to sign up for dance classes at D.A.N.C.E. by Kristin.

Small Business Spotlight - Liquid Nirvana

Almost instantly following the creation of this wonderful community, the fine people at Liquid Nirvana sent us a message asking us if they could donate and be a part of what we were doing. We are so happy to include them in our final “thank you” giveaway tomorrow night and one lucky winner will be happy too!

Liquid Nirvana offers a variety of healthy food options of all kinds; salads, fresh smoothies, açaí bowls, juices, and juice cleanses just to name a few. They also use local and organic produce and ingredients. For someone like me who has enjoyed quarantine foods a little too much, this is a delicious and healthy option!

Raise your hand if you have been to Zohara Mediterranean Kitchen and tell us what you love about them! Zohara is in West Hartford center and it is a REAL TREAT. Their owners were very generous in reaching out shortly after we started this fundraiser and offering gift cards to raffle off. We are thrilled to spotlight them as our next business this week. And we are even more thrilled to raffle off a $25 gift card to some lucky winner this week! Remember, no purchase necessary - anyone who has bought a ticket at any point will be entered into this raffle.

We went to Zohara for my BFF's birthday this past fall with some of my very best friends. I had never had baba ganoush before and let me tell you, it was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Next time I went to the grocery store I naively bought some baba ganoush but I'm sure you can guess it was not NEARLY as good. Honestly, I haven't stopped thinking about it since. Us girls got some wonderful drinks and split some fantastic, authentic Mediterranean appetizers. It was such a fun and different way to spend an evening.

Today’s second small business spotlight - Cakegypsy

We’re having a time deciding which businesses to choose to write about next because they are all so generous and amazing. When I mentioned Cake Gypsy the response I received was just a “mmmmmmmmmmmm 🤤”. Made my decision a bit easier! We love it at the Cake Gypsy. Everyone knows about the tasty variety of cupcakes they have to offer, but did you know they sell cookie dough... that you can eat right out of the container! They are now offering gourmet filled donuts. Now I’m drooling...

Today’s first small business spotlight is - Avon Prime Meats

Another local business who reached out immediately following the creation of this fundraising community. It is our go to for all our grilling needs for summer cookouts. They have a wide array of meats (get the melt in your mouth burgundy steak tips and thank me later) to grill. In addition to grilling needs they also have deli meats, heat and serve dinners, ready to eat meals, and grocery items. We did their contactless curbside pickup earlier this month and it was extremely easy!
