At Underrated Audio Repair LLC, when you ask us for a quote, we are going to ask a LOT of questions. There’s a reason for that.

We want to make sure:

1. The quote we give you is as accurate as possible.

2. Your subwoofer does NOT get damaged again after the repair.

Recently, we’ve had a few customers get upset when we ask questions about their amp, tune, gain settings, box design, or how the subwoofer failed. Those questions are not us being difficult — they are part of diagnosing the REAL issue.

A blown subwoofer is usually a symptom of another problem. If we repair the sub without figuring out what caused the failure in the first place, there’s a good chance it will happen again.
We care about doing the job correctly and helping you protect your investment.

If you are not willing to work with us to identify the cause of the failure and prevent future damage, then honestly, we may not be the right shop for you. In that case, you may be better off purchasing the parts yourself and repairing it on your own or having another shop handle the repair.

We take pride in doing quality work the right way — not just quick fixes.

Tip of the day
Here is one test that you guys can do when purchasing a used JL W7 or even W6 subwoofer. If you tap on the foam surround as shown in this video and you hear this rubbing noise that means that the foam surround most likely was installed off-center, causing the coil to rub. When everything is done correctly, you should be able to tap on the foam surround as shown and it just sounds like pure bass even when the subwoofer is not in an enclosure.
