Most of us here in North Texas love to see wild animals out in their natural habitat. But this customer got to see a large barn owl up close. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out good for neither the owl or the customer. Fortunately we were able to get them fixed up and back on the road. Outfitted with the proper equipment, we were able to get all the glass cleaned up out of the front of the vehicle, making it safe for them to drive off immediately. This poor young lady was unfortunately in the wrong place at the wrong time. A sheet of ice flew off an 18 wheeler trailer and hit her windshield. Fortunately her windshield did its job and kept the chunk ice from come through. We were able to get her back on the road with a new windshield, cleaned up all the glass shards inside the car and got her car back to normal. It happens all to often when a customer calls for a quote. I tell them the price for a windshield replacement and they respond with " I got a quote from another company for $100 less! Why are you so much higher?" Here are the reasons why. I never take short cuts or use a cheaper product so I can make an extra $5. This customer had another glass company replace her windshield a while back and she went with the "cheaper" quote. The previous company did not primer any of the scratches they made while removing the old windshield. Now this amount of rust isn't a big deal just yet but if left untreated, it can work its way under the glue that holds the windshield in the vehicle. This will cause water leaks, air leaks or worst. If the rust gets underneath the glue bed around enough surface area of the windshield, it could cause a catastrophic failure in the event of a roll over crash, allowing the windshield to pop out and potentially allow the roof of the vehicle to collapse. So when it comes to the safety of you and your family, it's not always the best idea to go with the cheapest. This damaged areas on this vehicle got ground down to bare metal, cleaned with a phosphoric acid wash, then cleaned with water and given two coats of primer to ensure that the rust will not come back. There's a time to save money when shopping around, but it should never be with you or your families safety.
