The Bee Guy

The Bee Guy My name is Adam, and I'm a beekeeper who does bee removals. I want to help preserve the bees & educa Hi, my name is Adam.

I'm a beekeeper who does bee removals in the Nashville area. My goal is to preserve the bees and to educate people about the importance of bees. If you have bees in your home, garage, tree stump or somewhere else, I'd love to relocate them for you. Bee removal is comparable to the cost of extermination. It also has advantages such as removing the comb to lessen the possibility of returning bees, a

nd it does not use harsh chemicals which can be dangerous to pets and family members. Plus, we are working together to preserve the honey bee population, which is in decline and vital to our food sources, vegetation and health. I love to talk about bees, so if you have any questions about bee colonies or more specifically what I do, please don't hesitate to ask!

Jason Molina is one of my favorite songwriters. He’s right up there with Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and Tom Waits. He has an unorthodox approach to many of his songs. They can be free flowing streams of consciousness that weave in and out of simple chord changes where every other line is a hook. His voice is usually out of my range and I have to find the right key for my voice. It has been good practice to learn his songs and try to make them a part of my vocabulary. Recording these performances is a challenge for me, and makes me feel very vulnerable. Even though I’ve played music for most of my life, singing and playing solo is still something I’m not quite comfortable with yet. Gonna keep doing it still.

Dolly Parton did the most with her time here on Earth. She celebrated people and their stories. Looking for the best in a broken world, and always encouraging others while enjoying her own success. She came from a poor family in East Tennessee, to climb not only the Country and Pop charts, but into so many different successful businesses. And what did she do with all that? She built better lives for all the people around her. No one will ever be her, but we can all be inspired by her to create a better world with our words, and our actions.
She will be so missed. 💕

Did anyone else have a neighbor that kept these in their garage freezer and chain smoked Marlboros ? So like every time I have one, I smell second hand smoke… nostalgia is a helluva drug.

Fruitless Research: TW Walsh was genrous enough to ask me to beta test some plugins that he designed. The bus compressor really glues the mix together, and his fet compressor is on many of the individual tracks. I’m also really digging his plate reverb, and analog delay. When he said he was doing these my response was, “about time!” I knew these would be great and such useful tools for the music I make.

Here’s some beekeeping pics from 10 years ago. I’ve been doing this for almost 20 years. I started when CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder) was first given a name. We were losing bees all over the world, but especially in the USA. We found that our practices in migratory beekeeping, and big agriculture were the causes. Honey bees, are just a canary in the coal mine. All pollinators, especially native bees are in jeopardy. I’ve met so many other beekeepers who have gotten the word out and who participate in ethical, and innovative practices to encourage the health and growth of conscious agriculture, and community. Lately I’ve been seeing attacks towards beekeepers. People are starting to understand that SAVE THE BEES means save the native bees, and that’s good. But there are voices that are being raised in anger towards the people that I’ve worked alongside, who have been aware of this for longer than even myself. Honey bees have taught me a lot, and one of those things is to collaborate and work while the weather is good. Who wants to work together? The weather is right, but not for a fight.

I never cease to wonder and adore Middle Tennessee’s flora. From the first time I arrived in 2002 til forever, I will always be captivated by the things that grow in this beautiful landscape.

This Omnichord has been non-functional for a few years, and I did a little work to get her back in the fight. Really excited to use this instrument again. It feels really great to complete little projects that have been sitting around. Look forward to weird videos of me playing some of my songs and a cover or 2.

One hive. That’s what I have now. I’ve had hundreds, and lost or given away all, but this one. Nearly 20 years ago I started keeping bees on my family’s farm. I got obsessed. I learned everything I could. I started catching swarms, removing bees from buildings when people needed me. I harvested honey year after year. I grew my apiary. I built a business. People started calling me the Bee Guy, and I ran with it. Adam The Bee Guy was how everyone knew me. I loved it, until I hated it. I’ll discuss more of that later, but I’m getting back to it. Balancing life one hive at a time.
