Took my 20’ Crosstrek with 21k miles for a oil change at the dealership and they are insisting I do this service + brake flush for $450. Is this truly necessary?

Battery light came on a few days ago but not recently

I have a 2018 Kia Optima S 2.4L 4-cylinder about 230k miles (I do uber so it runs up miles)

A few days ago while on a ride the light came on while in route with riders.

Thank goodness I didnt stall but I was able to make a B-line to AutoZone to get battery tested. It came back as good and I told them the light came on and the test sad the battery, starting and charging systems came back ok as seen in the picture.

So my question is what could have caused the warning light?

Too much power from phone plugs, bad serpentine belt, alternator, fuse?

I hope it was just a minor hiccup but I'm worried it will be an expensive fix even though its been ok for the last two days.

I'm thinking maybe the belt since the A/C seems to take longer than usual to cool down I replaced the compressor about 2 years ago and battery is not even 2 years old as well.

Any thoughts and what it could have been?

Which of these are necessary?

Our Volvo is in the shop and they’re recommending all of these repairs. I’ve heard the air filter items are scams before so hesitant to sign on for that with the price of all of these items. We’re doing the engine oil and brake fluid.

They were doing a hard sell on the engine air cleaner.

Not a car guy so any advice is appreciated.

Honda check charge system

My car is 2013 honda accord with message check charge system. A mechanic said your battery is bad. And then he said the alternator is bad because it’s overpowered, which took my battery. However, I didn’t trust him and went to Autozone for the alternator test. The result is that charging current is failed. After that, I went to another auto repair shop to do the test. Voltage of the alternator is 14.6. This mechanic said alternator is good, battery sensor is good and battery is good as well. So can anyone tell me why the message check charge system still in my dashboard?

Charging current failed after changing alternator - needs help!

Hi all, I got a new battery in Feb 2025 from Autozone and the seller advised that I get my alternator changed because it failed the charging system test.

My dad recently replaced the alternator, but now the battery light has come up. I brought the car to Autozone to get it checked again but the charging current is now indicated failed.

I have Toyota Camry 2008, bought the alternator on Amazon for like $100. I noticed the battery SoC increased from 87% -> 100%, so does this means the alternator is working fine? We have also disconnected the battery and the car starts up normally, so I’m assuming the alternator is working.

Everything seems to be working ok except for the battery light indicator. Thanks for any help in advanced!

(the wrinkly test is the old one from Feb, and the new test is from today, 9 April 2025)

What order should this be done in?

I’ll be trying to do as much of the work myself as I can but it’ll have to be in an apartment complex parking lot, so things have to be looking tidy and put together by the end of the night. What’s the best, most sensible order to do these repairs in to make sure I maximize the time that I have each day? It’s a 2001 GMC Savana 3500 with a 5.7L engine if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Unsure of what to do

Hey! Today I took my 2020 Subaru Outback onyx xt in to the dealership as it was making noises at a left turn and was catching a bit at the 3-2 down transmission. It has about 115000 miles on it and they told me I need to completely redo the transfer case. They told me that after I had a nail removed from my tire earlier this week that the previous staff left the tire to loose causing both front wheel bearings to break, allegedly the front axel needs replaced but they are unsure of that until they fix the wheel bearings. They said that they believe the transfer case is in the process of failing. It’s fine once the car has warmed up but every once in a blue moon it will jolt a little on the downshift. They said I need After speaking with them they said it would be fine to drive on for a couple of weeks. After doing my research I am unsure of what my best option is. Below I have linked the documents from Subaru any advice at all would be amazing. The quote came out to about 7000 which is not in the budget of a college student 😅.

Quoted $3400 in repairs when going in for an A pillar trim recall

Went in for a recall on my A pillar trim, left with a quote (obviously denied service) for $3400 on a laundry list of stuff for not only one side, but BOTH sides in the rear. I’m not inspection certified, but I’m plenty well aware at what the requirements are for any and all of these parts needing replaced. Makes me not want to even go to dealerships for recalls now. I never went for repairs, and I don’t think I’ll be going back. Stealerships are a cancer.
